Changing Tranny and Diff fluids

Okay so, My WRX has about 27,5xx miles on it. I blew 1st gear at about 15k. 1st,2nd were replaced and 3rd,4th synchros were replaced. Lately ive noticed that my car shifts hard from 1,2,3 and when its in 5th it whines really loud. I dont want to take it to get warranty because it wont happen. I am wondering if it possibly could use better fluids. Im not sure how to read the tranny dip stick because to me it always looks low even when its clearly not.

i would deffinatley try changing the fluids, since its been almost 15k miles since it was changed. cant hurt

The maintenance schedule says it should be changed every 30k miles, but to me that's a really long time. I was also thinking about doing mine this month. When it gets cold out our gearboxes get so tight.

I've read people sticking with the OEM fluid, but also heard people having better success with Redline synthetic. I'm not sure what I'll go with when I change mine, but there's a ton of info as to what people think works well.

im going to get in to the habit of changing my stis stuff every 10k miles

on the evo i change it every 6k with redline

I've been using Mobil1 gear oil for quite a while without any ill effects. I can still downshift into 1st gear at around 25 mph, which is a pretty big deal for a Subaru.

The WRC cars use NEO Synthetic, so that's where i'd go for REALLY good fluid.

I usually change it every 20k. Royal purple only see's my diffs :)

i run royal purple, i have not had any problems yet in my sr.
