So what's eryones input/advice/experiance wit stripped/caged/and painted cars? I personally love the look of it.
I'm really intrested, cause I am making my car a full blown show car, and I think it would give a different look to a show aspect of a car. But I'd like eryones experiance on this.
My plan would be to strip/gut, tuck all wires, install racing seats/harness', paint and cage the inside. So let me know.

so lemme get this straight you wanna gut your non turbo GS eclipse and give it the appearance of a full blown race car.
Im not being a smartass Im being serious.
I say do what you wanna do...make it look nice and i think it would be different from most cars out there.

If you are gonna gut it, you gotta do it right...The perfect example is this...http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25429
Do it right, or don't do it at all. I don't think its good for a show car, but it will make your car faster!

I cannot agree more with do it right! I also dont know what you mean about "paint" other than that ghetto painting vents.
My M3 is gutted and is getting a cage. Me and LicensedToThrill took out 16 Lbs of wire out of the car!!! I only did this though because it is an alternate car and not my daily driver. The interior was not the best also.

I'm not doing it go faster, me myself, have grown out of street racing, that's not my goal. And by paint, I mean paint all the paneling that's under what you see in a stock interior, like what street eg did. My cars going threw a lot of changes in the near future, and this is one I'd like to do. I would def take my time and do it the rite way.

It's alot of work to do right. Its not all hard work, just time consuming. And not sure how far this will take you in the show car world. A crazy cage would probably land you some points in their book.

Yea, see the idea of this came to me bc I'm in the process of installin seats/harness', and in order to do that I have to take my back seats out for harness welds. So I figured I might as well gut the whole thing. The more curious thing, is what color to paint erything, cause my car was originaly white, and is now candy apple red, so all the inside metal behind plastic is white, what color would yous suggest? And has anyone ever seen an gutted eclipse?

Yeah...my brothers was pseudo gutted for a bit. Removed the back seats, but he put carpet back in. As for the harness, if you are doing a cage you should definitely make a harness bar for it. I will take pics of his this weekend and post em up. Should give you some ideas.

Well i think Black would go good with any color...but thats your choice...
If this is your only car i wouldn't suggest this, you loose alot of comfort, its noisy, cold in the winter and can be smelly if you have an exhaust leak like me...

Eventually I am gutting the interior of my car, but right now its not priority because of the interior of my car doesn't weigh that much and virtually will serve no purpose for me, I only like the gutted look if its caged

My best freinds Evo is gutted totally except for 2 seats w/harness and a roll cage. Looks dang good but the noise is unbearable on the highway. It's all what you want!

The noise, see that was my fear, but for anyone who's ever driven in a eclipse, knows the noise is bad no matter lol, I always have my radio blasted. And another thing I'm thinking bout doing if this goes down, is a clear sub box setup :).

When I think of stripped I think no radio / heavy speakers

My car is gutted because it's less weight. Every 100lbs = -.10 off your 1/4 time. I am not throwing roll bars in there though I like to get in and out of my car with ease on top of I am not a sub 10 second car.

I say go for it, if thats what you want to do. I really want to gut mine but its in such good condition that I would feel like I was ruining it.

If you are gonna gut it, but leave the speakers it, you arn't gutting it at all! I dont think it will look good with just speakers bolted into the factory locations with all the wires running to them and a sub box...If you wanna go show then gut it, cage it, and fiberglass yourself a new interior!

I think gutting is silly and unnessesary on street cars. I only respect the idea of gutted cars for the track. I give more respect to fast cars that look like street cars, not gutted tin cans. As for show, Im not feelin the idea. Just my opinions.

I might be the only one that thinks a cage in a daily driven car is not a smart idea. Most people don't take into consideration that you can seriously injure yourself with one hit to the head from the cage. Cage padding will make a difference, but the risk of injury is still there. It's a whole different game when you have a race car and you are wearing all of the proper safety gear.

I'd def pad the bars, and full harness's and try and take as many saftey steps.

I'd def pad the bars, and full harness's and try and take as many saftey steps. And for speakers, I'd think bout making sumin where the back seat is, and around the harness welds.
