i know u make more hp with colder air but does anyone else not feelt the pull as much with the hot air? or im just finaly getting used to the cars accelaration

I can definitely feel the car does not accel as fast in hot weather. My air-to-water intercooler fluid also gets much hotter in days like these.

It is definitely noticeable on my DSM. Or least that use to be the case when I had a smaller turbo and FMIC and drove it a lot more.

I assume you have an intercooler which is compounding the feeling. Not only are you sucking in warmer air into your intake but now the IC is not as efficient. So in effect it's like your motor is sucking exponentially warmer air as the temps outside rise.

Were you reading my mind? I was all set to check my car out and see what the heck was going on. The heat and humidity are killing me. The humidity makes the air less dense, and that really hurts performance. Can't wait for those 90 degree & 90% humidity days. :thumbdow:

The hot air sucks for Superchaged cars. My car feels like it has no power when its hot out.

Hot air sucks for all cars with forced induction.

Just cruise around on hot days and wait for the cool nights to get on it....das what i do. Yes hot air sux for the turbo but its good for cruising with the windows down, sunroof open and bov blowing off

Its cause you have an intercooler thats half the side of a 1g sidemount. ;)

you have to consider in the summer we dont get that crap oxygenated gasoline. so it more than makes up for the temperature increase. its your butt dyno dying on you :P

Correction....a turbo on a capable car. I've raced several turbocharged cars and shrugged them off....now I know once you guys start modding and upgrading turbos and such, then its a different story....

1st gen DSMs came with a nice turbo. They didn't need much to break into the 13's. Intake, exhaust and tuning. A little bit more and they were in the 12's. Definitely didn't need a bigger turbo.

Evos and STIs can beat M3's just by turning up the boost. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Took the car out last night for the first time in several weeks. The temps are taking a huge toll. I'm really admiring DSMs with air to water coolers right about now. Feels like the car is down to 350whp.

factory turbo or worked turbo cars? I've been breaking many egos around here and the only guy that gave me a run for my money was running 22 psi on his DSM while I was only doing 8 psi (I've since gone to 14).

Factory turbo cars.....I know its pretty pointless once they swap turbos and such, or an NA car pops a turbo on their car. Maybe I need to do this to silence all you turbo heads.....DA Motorsports Turbo kit for the S54 M3 stage 2....900whp

no kidding. I didn't even know anyone had one out yet that was worth talking about. as for 900 hp on the S54, at what price? They probably rebuild the entire motor from the bottom up.

got a link to DA's site? I gotta check that out.

as you probably know, the turbo kits out from Technique Tuning have really stirred things up in the BMW FI community.

as for NA powered cars, I know of one car that can kick just about any turbo car's ass all over the pike - a TNT modified Dodge Viper putting down a proven 627 to the floor.

Stage 1 is 520 whp. Stage 2 900whp. The R&D car has been bought not too long ago, kits supposedly to be released 8/15. 11k for stage 1, I have no idea how much for the stage 2. Theres not much up on the site about the E46 M3, only shows that ones in development in the video section. I only know from some1 on the inside.... haha, actually my home forum is talking all about it, i'm just a shmuck who heard about it.
