i'm around 10000 into my car not including the engine, but when i bought it it was a total rust bucket, so about 1000 for repair parts, 5000 for a tubular air ride suspension, 2000 for four wheel discs, and another 2 grand for all the other stuff to get it together. The interior was in nice shape when i bought it, then maybe another 10 grand on the engine (i just started building it so that is just an estimate). then i need paint

The Rx7 had around $15,000 into it.
The civic probably has 2k into it...not gonna put much more money into it. You can't shine $hit.

Well, I can tell you exactly. I'm a dork, I've got a spreadsheet and everything!
Currently I'm at $7,488 for aftermarket mods only. Reduce that by $500 for parts purchased and then sold, which puts me at $6,988 net. Who knows how much I've spent on maintenance over the last 4 years, but nothing more than oil changes every 3k-4k, one set of replacement summer tires, and other minor stuff here and there.

Well, Let's see how much I spent...
Kartboy Endlinks and shortshifter w/bushings - 250 bucks
P1s and tires - like 900 bucks total
Brake Pads - 150 bucks
Fender braces - 75 bucks
v2 STi bumper (omg jdm) w/bumper beam - 200 bucks
Wow, thats a bit more than I thought. With all other misc stuff like my recent O2 sensor, etc it brings it to like 1500 bucks

All in all, about 2k. Ive only bought a few thing new. Everything else was unloved by someone else. I give lonely Subbie parts a good home.

Hmm... I estimate around $3K:
91 CRX Si - $500
Motor Swap - $800
Turbo Set-up - $1200
Suspension Mods - $500
About $3K Including the car and should be a 12 second car, probably another $300 for a good tune...anyone come close to that? we should have a rat rod contest...

Why bother keeping track? You are either going to enjoy it, or not.
But DON'T keep track (AND DEFINITELY DO NOT THINK ABOUT IT!!!) of how much money you spend on a car.

About $7,000 in my 98 vr4
About $5,000 or so into my 91 SL
Those are the only 2 that are currently running that I added mods to.
My other 2 cars came with the mods on them.
