I had 7 miles on my car when I bought it. I realize almost every car has this milage, but then I thought 7 x the number of cars sold is a lot of driving for somebody! I figured they auto-x all the new cars before they go to the dealerships to make sure nothing will fall apart.

the old movie theater down the street usually hosts the company auto-x's, but they let the public in as well... completely free too

they were probably just blocking off spots for a convention type meeting if it was in the HQ lot

When I use to work for Honda we had to drive brand new cars for 10 miles, set the radio stations, pull plastic coatings off and then put them on a lift to make sure all was ok. I forget what it was when I use to work for Chrysler but the mechanics had to do similar things. It also helps burn residue off the motor and out the exhaust. Anyone that has done a headgasket can tell you how much a car stinks the first time you drive it. New cars are no different.
