I've been overdue since September. I've only gotten pulled over (back in September when it was only like 2 days overdue) and the cop let me off. I haven't gotten pulled over since.
However, I do have check engine light - it's my CAT. I got it replaced a couple weeks ago but the light hasn't gone off.
Is your car unpassable and that's why you need to find a place that will pass you anyway?

Yeah, I am getting my inspection passed today - My front 02 sensor was NAILED by a rock, bending it in half, making it read like ****... Therefor a CEL came up. Oh, and if you haven't replaced your 02 sensor on your RS do it.... my idle is smooth as a supermodel's ass compared to before.

How seriously modded is your car? I got failed because my shift knob didn't have gear indicators (numbers) on it so I went to this place and they passed me for 50 bucks and they took care of all the paperwork but it might cost more if you are very seriously modded

So, you can do that in NJ? And it's legal!? And, you won't need a sticker? Won't cops keep pulling you over?

I was going to buy a 240 from a kid in bucks county with a sr20 swap, he told me that's what he does to get around emmisions, showed me the registration and everything.. registered to a P.O box and he lived in bucks county ( this is in PA though ) you would probably have to get PA plates but i know tons of people register their cars to family/summer houses in jersey and drive around all the time like that
edit; don't take my word for it, i dont want you to get a p.o box and be screwed, but it's worth looking into

i heard that NJ is really cracking down on mechanices passing cars that shouldnt. like switching the emissions to another car. they catch it by the time frames things are being done. be careful

the other counties still do a visual check for tampering of emissions--- technically they are supposed to do that.
I lived in Monroe county for a while. Though I never worried because there is none for light duty diesels
