My car is at CCP Auto and theyre doing a full JDM GSR Swap on it. Rob suggested I send out my P28 to Skunk2 and have them do some work on it, he said they will have it running much better, and I will get a decent amount of power from it because of the bolt ons I did. (password intake, Skunk2 intake mani, DC 421 header, magnaflow exhaust. Would you assume this is safe? I dont like the idea of basemaps, but maybe theyre just going to put the stock GSR Maps on it? Im going to call them tomorrow, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had a skunk2 ecu and how it works for them. He also said it will change a few things on the ecu (because the ecu is for an automatic) and make it work better with the 5 speed conversion.

your set up is not real complicated I'm sure skunk2 could get it real close. But for the money you could get some one in the area to set you up a tune on a dyno using chrome or neptune
I did have a friend that had a real skunks ecu map on a typer swap and it ran good.
gook luck with the car

Go there for all of your chipping needs. He did my P28 in my old hatch. Quick responses and shipping.

that was something i would not have done
i would have chipped the ecu, and got it tuned for the price your paying for a skunk2 ecu bin.
remembers tunes are specific to your car, and just putting a generic tunes is prolly not the best option

Agreed. You would have been better off getting the ECU socketed and getting an S200 or something. Much better bang for the buck. I am sure running there ECU is safe, they probably keep the tune on the mild side.
