View Full Version : What is the problem with people and new cars?

If I would spend the money on a brand new car (like 40k+).. I would try my best to take very good care of it. Wouldn’t you? I don't understand why people with like brand new cars.. treat them so badly? Every car I see in my works parking lot, either have the corners on the bumpers pushed in, or hardcore scratches down the side of it.

As an example, 2005 M3, driver side fender is completely scrapped down almost to the driver door, every time I walk past it.. I cringe.

Newer 2004+ Dodge car, plastic bumper, corner is pushed in so bad, that it looks like the bumper is inside the engine bay.

Driving to work today, newer Corvette going down Newtown bypass, I am driving right next to him, there is a trash bag in the middle of the road (big black one) instead of moving over to the side a little (more then enough room to miss it) the guy hits it and drags it for like 2min.. I am staring at the guy and he just keeps talking on his cell phone like nothing happened?

Few weeks ago a big rock was oddly sitting in the middle of my street. (came from the sky?) I guess it was from a landscaping truck or something from down the street. Well the thing is big.. and I am inside my house and every time someone goes up and down the street.. I can hear the darn rock dragging under people’s cars.. and screwing up a lot of stuff I bet. So I finally go out there and move the darn thing, the road and the rock were beat up pretty bad.

I go to BCCC, and the back entrance to the college, on the way out there is a massive pot hole. Everyday it just gets bigger and deeper. Well it seems that the people with older cars miss it without any problems, however the people with newer cars.. go right for it. So dumb because every time they do that, messes up alignment and makes it even bigger. Before you know it, will take up the entire road.

So many other stories I could tell.. but you get the picture. I understand that people get cars from parents and other things.. but man if I was given something that nice, and it was “my” car.. I would at least try to keep from damaging it myself? The said thing is, my car is 18 years old, and sometimes seems to be in better shape then some cars only a few years old? Also I love how some newer cars are running like junk and sound bad.. and have many less miles then I am currently sitting at.. Be nice if money was like toilet paper, and every month just go out and buy another car. Owell I am happy

I've noticed the same thing. I seem to care for my car better than someone that has a car worth twice as much as mine.

I believe some people aren't rich but have rich taste. So when it comes to them paying for work to get done on their expensive cars, it doesn't happen..

For some, a car is just a means of getting around. It's an appliance like a blender. Do you really care about your blender? :)

I see it a lot, a new car in front of a beautiful house thats all scratched up. Or a nice house and a 5hit car, some people just have other priorities, I guess as long as its mechanically sound they don't care..

Also i think its "rich" people dont really care what happens to their car if somthing would happen to break or w/e because they can just throw their money away to fix it...me on the other hand i try my best to avoid pot holes and such because i dont have money to just throw away

Have you also taken in to consideration the other moronic drivers? Or the area?

Nice cars in Philly tend to get scratches. It's the nature of the beast.

The few EXTREMELY wealthy people that I know take better care of their cars than anyone else. The cars are always SPOTLESS, NO SCRATCHES, and everything is regularly maintained.

I think that you are making a VERY overgeneralized statement, based on very FEW cars and their owners.

Or a nice house and a 5hit car, some people just have other priorities,..

I'll have to find the Forbes list after work, showing what the richest people in America drive. I'm talking F150's, OLD town cars, and other beaters.

On the other hand, you have a lot of people that are "mortgage broke", as in, after living in the nice home, they don't have the extra coin to spend on nice cars. And than you have the people who literally just don't care or buy the most PRACTICAL vehicle, PROPS to them :supz:

BOTTOM LINE:

IT'S A FREAKING CAR!! IT'S NOT A CHILD!

some people are hood rich, spend alot of money on a car, then get really basic insurance...

thats why you see people like them not interested in paying their 1000+ deductable..

and moost of those damages i bet were hit and runs, etc

I've been hit twice in parking lots. The corner of my rear bumper is pushed in, and my passenger side is wrecked from the front fender back to the rear door.

I just don't give a **** and won't probably ever get them fixed.

I have some damage on the rear bumper of my M3 when this korean girl rearended me with her POS but the damage was minimal and she was very nice and scared so I let her go. Then BMW dented this piece under the trunk but they always hook me up so I let that go too. But I always wash my car and my rims are flawless without a scratch and they have 15k miles on them. Sometimes things are just unavoidable. I'd get it fixed if the down time wasn't so long. Yea, I have other cars but the M3 is my favorite to drive lol.

you should see barry's (s4toSTI) car. I think he jsut puts soap on it when it rains. Oh well, it's three times as fast as my civic so i shouldnt be saying anthing :o

horror story: one time at the shop we had a maserati whos trunk was FILLED TO THE BRIM with clothes, books, TV dinners, and open matzah. ugh.

Maybe the people in your parking lot will get their cars fixed soon. Whenever my Mom dents/scratches up her cars it takes her a while to take it to the mechanic since she's a doctor and has an hectic work schedual (she once hit a parked truck with her Mercedes ML and it took her about a month to get it fixed).

there's also the one's with brand new cars that are 40g+ but can't pay their section 8 rent each month.....a lot of people with newer cars seem to think that they're infallible

I used to work doing detailing for a couple of years during high school. The worst cars we got in were mercedes. Not just C and E classes but the highlines also. Just totally neglected cars. Mercedes black is impossible to repair we usually had to wet sand the bastards.

I love seeing all of the Bmw's and Mercedes with "powder coated" wheels....

German cars especially have extremely dusty brakes.

No it's the owners. But I have to say Volvo's are worse for brake dust.

I think it is driving style, I have to towel mine all the time to keep them clean.

My wheels (and the M3 wheels, as well as numerous other wheels) ARE NOT ONLY A HUGE BITCH TO CLEAN, but brake dust freaking BLOWS. I am HARD on my brakes non-stop, it's a drivers car. I think I'm supposed to drive it hard? (kind of sarcastic, but I do drive it hard, and that means braking hard)

Wheels with lots of brake dust on DAILY DRIVERS get dirty DAILY. I don't have time to take it to the car wash, have it detailed, OR detail it MYSELF every DAY.

I can't believe some of you are complaining about wheels with brake dust.

WOW, that's all I can say.

People who have the money to buy a luxury car usually have bigger problems to worry about than the cleaning of their car.

Since July when I got my STi, it has been damaged 3 times, and not once have I found the party responsible.

I just deal with the 2 door dings and the small bumper ding. Its not worth pouring more money into it because it doesn't affect its performance.

No i think saturn owners have Luxury cars beat. When i worked at saturn we had 2 cars that would come in from time to time FILTHY inside and out.One smelt like vomit inside and the other belogs to an old guy who **** his car every day.We wouldnt clean the **** outta his car but we had to clean the outside.Noseplugs, plastic covers for everything and glves become your friend in that situation.

Anywyas every car that came thru detail had something wrong with the body..Scratches dents and dings. Its really how you feel about your car.People with one car only tend to take more care of thier car since its thier ONLY car.Tuners also take care of thier car because they love it and see it as more than jsut an appliance or something to get them from point a to point B,They see it as a reflection of themselves. the general population tho is much too busy to wash thier car or take time to do thier own yard or watch thier kids. They are busy with work and keeping up on who brittney and paris are ****ing this week to take time to appreciate the little things. Then theres those who are too porr to take care of thier car and can barely make ends meet and then theres those who just the people who never care about anything or anyone followed by those who really do spend too much time at work because they have to ( doctors and lawyers mainly) Its a choice they made.

I love getting out of my car every morning, and seeing a smashed up BMW with really nasty brake dust covered wheels, and saying to myself.. that one wheel alone is worth 5 times more then my entire car put together.. hehe
