Rob and I had a bit of a professional relationship when I was working at Pokes for the first few years. He was helpful when he could be. If he doesn't work there anymore, then I basically know nothing about the place :(

Ok guys...i can see that nobody really knows anything about this place or the new staff there...so i guess my next step is this...
Who here can work on my Pionner Z1 head unit, install a working XM radio antanae, put the "Chip" in that allows DVDs to be played while driving, and improve the 'look' of the bezel around the unit???
:(
probably afew folks can do what you need, but if you are in the KOP or WC area (guessing you are because of the OP question) and still in need of someone to do this, pm me and ill give you the number for the best person in the area. He has done Eagles Sixers...etc players car, work is in an Alpine and Audi brochur(sp?), has fixed many other shops screwups (esp remote starts and stereo installs), custom fiberglass work, and did 2 of my cars. He is pretty much the best and most professional you will find, IMO. NO wires seen, everything tight! Just throwing it out there.

Weird. Cuz there was a place around the corner from AS on 30 business that did exactly the sort of jobs you mentioned.
They're of course closed down now. But I've kept in contact with Jesse and had him do stereo work from time to time.

About the audio sensations post.
Being that i am the installer I have very little to do with the front of the store. I like being in the back with my radio on and not answering phones. Being the only installer and having to do 8-12 cars a day and working 65+hours a week I don't want to be dealing with idiots that want to buy a jl w7 only to run it with a boss amp that has the 8 gauge wire grounded behind their radio. then want to complain that jl sucks. granted there is better stuff out there than jl audio, just the mentality of some people and the constant phone calls of people asking how to hook their radio up over the phone get a little old at times..
I've been with the company over 4 years, I've made my mistakes as anyone that works in the industry has. Face it when you work on cars stuff gets broken from time to time, products malfunction or have issues, that being said, I got sent to the Exton shop about 6 months ago to replace 2 idiots that were working there. Since then I've had to fix numerous mistakes and deal with angry customers.and since I have been there, there have been very few returns. A lot of the time its the customer not knowing their product.
About the evo with the z1: the radio doesn't fit perfectly because the kit that purchased off the internet was made to be a universal dual din kit and was based off of the dimensions for a kenwood dual din setup. No surprise that its different than the pioneer and to make it work requires some customization. Not a problem at all for me.. the problem was the car had to leave the shop because the customer had a flight to catch and he was supposed to bring it back to get it straightened out. That was the last i heard anything about it. I wasnt aware of any issues with the xm radio. but keep in mind that xm,sirius and nav antennas are magnetic and need to be mounted to steel to be grouned properly and with the special edition evo having an aluminum roof and a big ass wing on the trunk the places to mount the antennas are limited. If i rember correctly the xm ant. was on the dash on a metal pad next to the nav antenna. So reception wont be the best.
As far as bypassing the unit so he can watch dvds while driving.. well pioneer didn't want that to happen for a reason. When you're watching dvds and driving and you run over someone's kid.. then it comes back on the shop who installed it and pioneer for manufacturing it. I can bypass the unit, and ill do it for the customer. but dude give the shop a call. ask for jon and ill take care of this.. I don't like finding crap on the internet and looking like an asshole and being called an idiot when I have nothing to do with any of the management or the sales end of things.. the shop as been re staffed for a reason. I've been with the company over for years for a reason and ill do whatever it takes to make sure the customer is happy. Keep in mind that there has been only 2 people working at the shop and the owner comes in from time to time for the past 6 months yet we have the same schedule as if there were 4 people working there. Things are getting straightened out the mistakes that were made buy the people that shouldn't have been working there in the 1st place are all straightened out. The manager Tim is a really nice and smart dude, one of the best technical installers I've ever met. He's new to the company and is adjusting really well to the way things should be done.
Now for my rant which has nothing to do with audio sensations or the management .
If you want to waste someone's time talking about the garbage equipment that you bought off the internet or if you're wondering why your radio doesn't work because your friend that's an electrician installed it and used wire screws and cut the factory harness out of your car then go to circuit city and waste their time. Just realize that that my time isn't free, I'm very busy. I will be more than happy to help you out, hopefully at least educate you and get you pointed in the right direction. Just leave the installation to the people that do it every day.

A 6 week misunderstanding without ONE phone call? And i find it hard to beleive that you couldnt get a XM tuner within that time period...when the other places i went to ALL had them sitting around the shops.
Listen man...im not attacking you - or asking you for anything - but i know what i know and am sharing my experience with other TST members. That is the point of an online forum no???
Bottom Line: My experience with your shop could have/should have been WAY BETTER.

How exactly do you have any room to judge circuit city were exactly do you work and what do you do I probably work on more cars in one day by my self than your whole shop...that is assuming that you work for a shop.
I was just kidding dude.

Whats his name? I know an installer when the springfield tweeter was still open that worked EXACTLY like that.. I dont know if he got transffered in company or sent elsewhere...He is a nice guy tho..
AS per Audio Sensations, I had a problem with OLD management...But Ihavent been back there since either.
Its good that they are working thier kinks out but that should NEVER be an excuse for anything.. As per The installer(s) Its not an easy job anywhere, Each place has a different way to doing things, Circuit City and Best Buy Crimp everything because of high volume that comes thru they really dont have time to Solder every connection and Do things the way a smaller shop would. Nor do they do much custom work for the same reason ( time)... If you want a fast half assed job ( not saying YOUR work Mr. Circuit City is half assed) you go to a bigger shop like Circuit city and Best buy that all the do is installs and pre-made boxed.. For custom work you go to a smaller shop or tweeter.. Thing with smaller shops is you have to be careful if you dont know your installers. The smaller shops take the potential emplyees word that they know what they are doing and End up in situations like Audio Sensations did..Tweeter Checks EVERY Previous employer and asks for pictures of your work before you can become an installer for them... Unfortunately most smaller shops dont do this.. My suggestion would be next time you need work done.. BEFORE you get it done somewhere, Ask around or go to the back and Talk to the installer yourself.Make it short because they are almost always busy but Ask him how long he has been doing this, Etc... If he is nice enough to give you a few minutes of his time to talk to you then you have found a good installer. But dont go asking how to do something yourself. Thats rude.
Oh and if you need something custom, and dont want to go to a shop, there are a few people on this board that have done installations or do fiberglassing.. Im sure you throw some money thier way they will do it. Statik Subie used to be an installer and Did fiberglass and builds boxes.. I'm sure if you ask him to do something on a weekend for ya he can and will.

Circuit City doesn't crimp anything everything is solder and taped and as per your tweeter asking for pictures of previous installs that is false also I know plenty of guys down there and one of my fellow installers worked there before he came to Circuit. The only time they as for pictures is if you are being hired strictly for custom. Another thing is that custom installs at circuit are not as complicated as tweeters because we are not made for that kind of volume we are made for quick clean installs. So thanks for stopping by...one thing you where right about is that best buy does use crimp caps.

Funny.. cause they asked my man for pics when he applied as an installer.. nothing custom.. guess they thought he would be better off in that area?? Jsut going by experience.. and the Circuit city in Delaware doesnt solder, they crimp cap everything as well.. nor do they do custom work at all.. Everything they do is same as Best buy.. and they use the pre-made boxes, they dont make thier own, well they hardly make thier own according to the install manager. So maybe its different area's regulations or just how the shop is run, I dont know, but based on my experience with all 3, Tweeter is better for custom work...

I personally know that they have done custom labor in willminton del. cause i know the installer that did it and if there is a store using crimp caps they will be terminated cause it is company policy from east to the west coast. As per custom work that depends on the circuit. I personally have done custom work on a few cars but like i said that depends on the space.

crimp caps, scotch locks and butt connectors all suck.. i cant even count the number of problems ive had to fix over the past 4 years due to poor connections.take the time and do it rite the 1st time..
im the only installer at the exton shop, the manager helps out if im swamped and we have a part time guy thats there afiew days a week for afiew hours..
i dont know what kind of volume circuit ciry and best buy do per day but i know that 5-6 remote starts 3 head units 4 sat radio`s is a normal day for me.

Damn you are swamped.. I feel for you.. Understandable why you are a irritated about having to go back over other peoples work. Considering wiht what you do in a day, you really dont have time to do that.
Auto.. When I was last there that one didnt do Custom work. Maybe now they do but they didnt then.. Like you said the custom thing varies.. and Last time i was there they did the crimp cap thing.. However it was atleast 2 yrs ago so Maybe things changed since...Best buy still does crimp caps.. and best buy in De is pretty busy store..I dont know the exact traffic but i can find out i am sure..
