So me and a friend installed a simple system with a 5 channel amp and 4 speakers into his 2003 GTI. We were tuning the amp sound when all of the sudden the radio turns off. Now the car won't start and the radio has no power. We check fuses and the radio fuse was blown, when we replaced it we got nothin. We thought it would be an ignition fuse, but we can't find that either. The car doesn't turn it just clicks when you turn the key. The car is stuck in my garage. Any thoughts????

clicking would indicate to me that you killed the battery, try jumping the car after checking ALL fuses.

Ah, we literally pulled every single fuse from the car. We also tried jumping it several times. Its wierd because all other electronics in the car work, except the radio.

You may have tripped the anti-theft system in the car. I had a problem with my key in my 01 Jetta and the car wouldn't start if I left the key in the ignition too long before starting it. It would also throw a check engine light for a misfire while driving down the highway lol (check engine light went away when they replaced the top half of my key). Not saying he is having the same issue, just showing how the anti-theft can be a little crazy.

I would recheck the battery connections. Make sure everything is correctly tightened.

disconnect the battery for 5 mins then try it again

^ yeah, try that

it's weird that everything but the radio works and the car wont start, do the headlights work? check your fuses again, have someone else check incase you missed something, then maybe try taking the audio stuf out completly. I would say that maybe the amp and stuff was drawing to much power with the car not running and you drained the battery, but if the radio is the only acc not working then I have no clue

When working at Best buy we did a head unit and system in a Jetta.. The car wouldnt start because the seatbelts were unpluggedt.. Tho this one had automatic seatbelts so IM not to sure on yours... Course it could aslo be one of those things where alot of things are run thru the head unit and then you neeed a relocation kit so you can keep the stock on mounted under the seat.

wow thats wierd as ****...did you check the fuse inside the head unit (usually a 10amp) and the fuse that runs along the power wire (red wire). Im assuming it is one of those problems if the other Acc. work. If you have another head-unit laying around, even just a stock one, try that out. You coulda killed your head unit. As for the car not starting, idk what else is could be but the battery.
