After much discussion among friends, I decided to purchase a 2003 Mitsubishi Evolution VIII. I knocked around the idea of a pre-owned Supra, NSX, or a new 350Z, however, it all came down to which car had the most potential with the least amount of money to invest. Plus, living in a city with potholes, broken streets, snow and ice, the Evo became a logical choice. Also, at the time, one of my friends had a WRX and I clearly understood these rally cars were capable machines.

I went almost a year before modding, however, the parts kept coming once I started. In the spring of 2005 my first mod was a set of SSR Competitions (currently with 255s.) Helix down pipe, test pipe and Greddy exhaust were next. By the middle of the summer of 2005 I purchased the TurboXs Utec, ARC intake, Tein H tech lowering springs and an assortment of exterior mods.

Comp Cams (272s) came in February 2006 along with other parts (Walbro fuel pump, Greddy Upper IC pipe, new front bumper, carbon fiber vortex generator, carbon fiber door inserts, etc.) Recently I replaced the spring and stock struts with a set of Tein SS coilovers, and as of last month (April 2007) added APR's rear diffuser.

I will be purchasing other odds and ends of course, however, this is perhaps where the car will enter its’ last major transformation. I can easily drop a bigger turbo along with alcohol but the car is already fast and I’m juggling many things all at once (like trying to retire while I’m young and handsome!) Plus, my overall goal was to have a car that could mix it up with Porsche and Ferrari – for the most part I believe it can hold its’ own. Besides – the 600hp daily driver I’m planning will come with my next car in the near future.

Stay tuned…

Thanks for the compliments. Been away for a few days – sorry for the wait.

30% tint - Rear window is 35%.

Around $2500 with tires (a little cheaper without the center caps.) Can’t remember what the wheels were separate but TireRack still sells the SSRs I believe. Volks were on back order at the time I got the Comps, however, they turned out to be a good choice - much lighter than stock.

I’m at a fork in the road now. I could go for more power but there are many cars out there that I would like to sample as well. “Philly Boy” purchased an E46 M3 back in September and I love the thing – we’re talking up superchargers right now. A Corvette would be nice or a pre-owned Carrera. I don’t know yet but I’m a year and a half away from making that decision.:afro:

Really nice. I especially like the side vents in your front bumper. Very clean and still aggressive looking EVO. Nice wheels and everything looks like it belongs.

Choi, myself, and “DanFromPA” argue about this every day – what to do next. I was thinking about Advans after I saw them in that issue of Import Tuner (JUN Evo I think it was.) They look good with a white car (like your set-up.) But I would lose the “bling” of the silver polished lip. Brides would really look good also – oh decisions, decisions.

I was going to do the carbon fiber rear diffuser also but they’re tough to find now. I’ll have to settle on the fiberglass – it looks just as good anyway.

The vortex generator I got from LancerShop.

Keep the SSR's! Almost half the price of the Advans (over priced cast junk!) and just as much style. A friend of mine who owns Ye Old Wheel shop showed me horror pics of SEVERAL sets of advans. Hair line cracks all throughout the width of the rim.

Wow! You’re here.

Glad I could help out, man. And welcome to the site. That car has left me on the side of the road several times so I know how it feels. Besides, we’ve gotta help each other out.:)

I sent you a PM regarding help on posting those pics of yours. People need to see your car – it’s definitely on point!

Yeah, it was just a thought. Actually, I’d really like a set of gold wheels with a silver lip (the Advans wouldn’t do it.) And I’m very impressed as to how the SSRs have held up. They’ve proven to be very strong and because of their weight, very functional.

But - no new wheels any time soon. I’m concentrating on aero parts right now… they definitely make a difference in performance, handling, and stability. For those who know, aero parts FTMFW.

By the way, updated pics added on page one.
