Has anyone ever been on it for the state of PA? I have a couple questions regarding it and wonder if there are any slacker pro's that could help me out. Thanks

My dad has been on it. 6 months of paid vacation....he relaxed for 2 months, then did his job searching.
My cousin had it also. He was supposed to use the time and money to further his career potential by getting additional certifications (he's in the Info tech field)-- but ended up playing video games and watching anime instead.

Watch that episode of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" where Dee and her brother go on unemployment. I'm sure you could get some useful tips. However, they did end up becoming addicted to crack.
But, is it really that hard to find a job? I've never found it at all difficult.

Other then that stay out of my threads with your garbage posts.

Are you elligible since you still have a job at CC? or do you still have a job at CC?

Are you elligible since you still have a job at CC? or do you still have a job at CC?Yes I am, because I only work P/T so the money I earn at Circuit City does not supplement 80% or close to 80% of what I made at my F/T job.

My brother used to be in the union for electrical, let me know your question and I will ask (he was on/off unemployment for the past 5 years, finally quit completely and joined the company with my old man and I; even though while on unemployment he still worked with us). He was on unemployment ALL the time (the entire union was). They screwed up so many times it's rediculous.

I have been collecting for awhile..What is your question??I know if you work p/t you wont be collecting too much, I think it is just the difference in amount from what you make, to the amount they would have paid you for FT unemployment..

If you go on unemployment you'd more then likely would have to leave Circuit City or work less. From when I recently went on unemployment with PA(Now under NJ) I was told by PA I could only make like a certain amount which was extremely low. Situation I'm like kinda stuck in now is if I get a job it has to either A: Make me atleast 300 a week after taxes or B: I believe the number I was told was I can only make about 90 - 100 a week or I'd lose my unemployment. Really I suggest just calling the unemployment office and tell them how much you made how much ur job now makes and if ur eligible. There really nice over there.

Jesus Christ. WTF is up with people today? I wasn't even being rude.
If you're having that much trouble and you have so many expenses, then why don't you go to college?
(And I get payed 11/hour and I have a similar job as you have - or did rather.)
P.S. I should have watched this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=mCwKbUVyHLY) before posting my first reponse.

I believe it around 60% of your pay.
I occasionally collect in the winter because I have a seasonal job.

P.S. I should have watched this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=mCwKbUVyHLY) before posting my first reponse.First off, wow you know nothing about my education nor my credentials NOR have seen or glimpsed at my resume. So don't sit there and tell me about my expenses and tell me about college. College would put me further in debt and even with my GI Bill there is still books to be paid. $11 an hour to do what I did?? I highly DOUBT you did what I did, since I had three different jobs combined in that one. And if you are only getting $11/hour for that then something is wrong. I made more then that, way more. So don't come on here and offer smart alack remarks which isn't even worth my time reading on a serious subject in order look funny. You may not find what you say rude but others do.
Just to clear some confusion unemployment is 80% of your earnings within a fiscal year. I do have a part time job but I work only around 20 hours per week which is not even close to full time. I actually filed already and have received my full amount along with my part time earnings. I called and got everything straightened out so I am set. Thanks to everyone who replied seriously if I have any further questions I will be sure to PM.

I was told that if you go on it.. as long as you are on it, you are required to take a job that they line up for you? Not sure if this is true or not.

Where did you come up with the 80% thing? I thought it was 60%.

It's not true. They have a whole calculator/chart on their site. All I will say is that what I am getting is not that huge of a paycut then what I made working...And when I filed all I had to do was agree that I am available for work and that I am looking for work. Since I work p/t they also ask me how much I made per week.
