Were not gonna need a helmet or anything right? these are the time/distance rallys that you have to follow the speed limit on. What do you think well need if anything?
teh DIRT
02-02-2005, 03:10 PM
since this is a school thing i doubt you will need much.
things to bring include:
a stopwatch (rally if possible: clocks in tenths of seconds/tenths of minutes)
a flashlight (if this is going to run into the night)
a few pencils/pens
a clipboard
a calculator
a sack with two balls (these will come in handy )

Do you need a car to go or is it strictly classroom? I don't have a worthy rally type car but I'd like to learn about this stuff for the future.

From what I understand, the class will meet at a restaurant. I think most of it will be classroom time.

Another BUMP :bump:
Are any of us meeting and caravanning there? I have no idea where this is...
leeden
03-11-2005, 09:50 AM
I mapped the location. I'm taking the NJ Turnpike north to 287N to 78W into PA, then 378S to the restaurant. Mike, since you're south of me, we can caravan there. I can meet you at the rest stop between 8A and 9.

I'm totally down for a caravan, Bryan.
I have to be somewhere early on Saturday, but should be free by 9:30.
Do you want to meet some where between 9:30~10? Is this a good time, or too late?

I think we are headed into PA in Philly and picking up 476.
Where and when is everyone meeting?
naSTI
03-12-2005, 12:09 AM
There's a movement to try and meet at RR, since you can hit 276 right from there (isn't that convenient?).
I think it's important for us all to agree if we'll meet there or not, that way we can figure out the caravan situation.
There is also thoughts on getting concensus on car pooling since it doesn't appear to be a good idea to have 8~10 cars going up with gas and all.
ALSO: It would be a good idea for anyone who has TWO-WAY RADIOS to bring them charged. And for the guys with Nextel, well I guess you're all set then.
Is it obvious I've done thing sorta thing before? Probably not since, I should have posted this comment much before today!!
Of the few people I have a cell number for, I think only Bryan and Dennis are going, SO PLEASE call people you think are coming and you'd like to go with so you'll at least organize in small groups.
I will leave my AIM on all night, so if you like, AIM me with your cell # and I'll keep it for the ride up.

OK, I gotta give credit where credit is due.
Actually Jim did make one mistake. He turned right out of the parking lot instead of left. First instruction! LOL However he did know how to handle a JOG and SAP whereas I constantly messed them up during the Rally in the Dark.

... JOG and SAP ...
what is that?
TROLL
03-14-2005, 01:19 AM
uh yea, we definitely messed up the jog.... it ruined our run at the rally school championship.
a jog is a right turn followed by the first possible left turn.
bryan
the mike

Actually a Jog is a turn in either direction followed by the first turn in the opposite direction. For example you would Jog left at Stop(turn left at a stop sign and then make the next possible right, whether it is named in the notes or not). We blew it too though.
SAP is "straight as possibe". If the road you are on turns and there is another road that continues straight, you would go straight. Blew this part too.
Still don't know which leg we were awarded a point.
TROLL
03-14-2005, 10:56 AM
ha yeah look i blew the explanation of it too. and its true, although it took us about 30 minutes extra to finish the really, mike and ash only beat us by one point.... 599 to 600. haha,

Ok so I finally wandered in to this board.
Yes I always seem to make a mistake early on in every rally. I was really out of my element since I make a much better navigator.

Yes, I was the driver. It was a good mini-rally. Wendel does find some good roads.
