...from an injury I could return to the gym and what a great feeling that was. Anyone else experience the same unfortunate sequence of events?

it was just an overuse type of injury which the doctor affectionately called elbow tendonitis which was supposed to heal within a week or two but has taken double that and still isnt fully healed but I couldnt take it anymore so I got back to the gym

I know that feeling all to well. When I had my finger crushed I couldnt work out for 2 months. It should have been 4 but I started going back early with pins sticking out of my finger because I felt like I was getting fat and lazy.
I also dislocated my shoulder doing incline dumbell press and took a month off. I also tore up the tendons and muscles that run through there and to this day cant do any kind of freeweight incline motion or my shulder will pop out of socket, hurts so bad.
Good luck man!

dAng! how much weight were you putting up on the incline dumbell press that you dislocated your shoulder, i would assume quite a bit. and as far as taking it easy, i'm doing just that. im keeping my weight down and my reps high instead of vice versa so we'll see how that works and hopefully my elbows will cooperate with me.

Yeah, thats the depressing part. It was only 60lbs dumbells. I was just doin reps and right in the middle of my set, as I started to come down my shoulder just popped. All of the muscle shifted to the back of my shoulder and the bone was pressing against the skin up front. I had to force it back into place, it was one of the sharpest pains I ever felt.

I tore the meniscus in my right knee playing hockey in Mar 2000. I played on it for 5yrs until I couldn't kneel at all. So I've had 2 surgeries to try and fix it, but I just keep retearing it. All said and done I'll never be able to play again

i seperated my growth-plate in my wrist and had 6 contusions on my forearm from a guys helmet in hs. i played the rest of the game, went to the docs was supposed to be out 4 weeks. i threw the note away and wrapped it up and played the rest of the year.
also was playing some football with friends and broke my foot. played for about 10 mins till i could barely walk. went to the hospital they told me it was sprained. so i walked on it for the rest of the day. woke up the next morning and my foot looked like a loaf of bread. needless to say i was out of work for 8 weeks...worst 8 weeks ever.
take it easy with injuries, if not treated well you can have alot of problems later on in life.

Good for you 97TurboDSM. I got in a car accident a few months ago, and injured my shoulder. I couldn't play ball or work out for 2 months. I though i was going to die. But once i got back into it, it felt great. Good luck with your recovery

Originally dislocated my shoulder skateboarding..then a year later dislocated it again snowboarding...no I dont learn from mistakes:devil: then it became so loose it would dislocate while I slept. so after 60 or so disocations and two surgeries it finally feels pretty good:thumbup:

Now that is depressing, sorry to hear that man.
I havent played hockey in a long time, I know the feelign of playing through pain. My last season of juniors I had a serious herniated disc in my back to the point of not being able to walk after rough games.

HA HA HA I think I may have you beat in the not learning from mistakes department. When my finger was crushed i had all these pins in it. I couldnt stand sitting around so I decided to go snowboarding and fell on it. Needless to say I broke a new part the finger that had just taken 4 moths to partially heal. Now its permanently bent from that break, but its an ugly ass finger anyway so I dont care.

What a coincidence. I hurt my knee pretty badly and couldn't go for a few months. I went back for the first time on Monday night. Then yesterday I woke up at 6:30am and went in the morning before work and then went again and did an hour long spinning class at night. I forgot how much better I feel when I exercise.
My knee still isn't 100% better, but I wear a knee brace and ice it down afterwards.

^^yea the feeling of accomplishment after a month off from the gym was great^^ i'm actually about to get to the gym right now, keep rehabbing that knee so as not to re-injure yourself! oh btw, are those spin classes fun?
