when and what are you looking to have done? I ask because during the warmer months I do a good bit of custom paint work. I also know a handful of reputable places, but it all depends on what you want done and what you're willing to pay...

i dont want anything spectacular...i might be purchasing a talon that is probably gonna need paint soon. i would just want to repaint the car with its factory blue body and black roof area. right now i am just pricing stuff out

<< Interested too. I'm looking to get my Miata hardtop and windshield header painted silver in the near future. Like, before the first snow near future. I'm definitely not trying to break the bank here, but there's a reason I haven't taken it to Macco, too.

i got some work done at Lake Ave Autobody on 42 just south of wash twp. the guy who runs the place, i think his name is Mike, is a younger guy and did a fine job fixing a bang up i had and he also painted my rockers and eyelids. i can recommend him from a quality perspective, but i have no idea what he might charge you.

If you still need paint done come spring, let me know. I could do something close or better than a factory job for under $1000.

This is a good thread. I actually just got sponsored by Saleen and Dave and I can put the bodykit on ourselves, but I need my entire car repainted before the end of March this year. I really didnt want to spend more than $2500-$3000

look for the painters reputation. a shop can be good but have differnt painters. and there differnt techniques that differnt ones use. I know i paint alot differnt then most, and I never have had a run yet.

someone tell me, since nighthawk black pearl is a factory color, then it wont be a 4 step paint job right? Itll just be the primer, paint, and clearcoat? Or would it still be a primer, pearl, black coat, and then clearcoat. I think its already premixed. anyone know?

Well I know my NightHawk Black Pearl is black and has blue specs to it. But, hopefully someone can help you out with it. I think it might be a few more colors

I really don't have much paint knowledge but I figured since it comes in a little touch up tube as one color that maybe they sprayed it as a single color somehow.

there is 2 ways to spray pearl, and there are 2 forms of pearl, powder pearl and liquid pearl. powder is cheaper and if you do use powder pearl you can mix it in with your clear and shoot the pearl and clear at the same time, after which you should still do your last coat of clear w/o pearl so you get all the depth of the pearl.
liquid pearl is better more pricey and has to be sprayed by it self. I haven't used liquid pearl, powder pearl works just fine and if mixed and sprayed right looks no differnt.

If your interested and willing to wait a while, i got a few jobs in line, i do good work and my prices are good. And I can explain your options.
