I for one dide think the system was gonna be much of anything. I must say after seeing my brother(didn't have time to play)play it, I'm quit amazed. He had the off road fury type game. You use the buttons for gas/brake/boost. You actually turn the controller left and right to turn. Its def one of the most innovative game systems I've ever seen.

Also has a demo disc with a few games on it, one being a tennis game. I for one am not to excited about a tennis game, but this looked like a lot of fun. You use the controller to swing at the ball, you turn your wrist to put back spin on it. All in all its worth the money imo if they come out with enough games.

I havn't een this excited since Virtual Boy. I'll prob wait a year or so to buy the wii, but it looks great. I saw the commercial for Call of Duty 3, and the guy was holding the controller and buttons set up like a rifle. Pretty sweet. :) I think its geared more for kids, but some of the games like Zelda & Resident Evil which I played as a kid, will be on this system. So I will most likely get it.

i have it and let me clear up a few misconceptions here.

1. wii sports is NOT a demo disc. this is a full game that costs extra everywhere except north america.

2. it easily has the potential to be considered the best controller ever. just like the n64 controller was(at the time). if other developers do as good with it as nintendo did with zelda, it should be no contest. extremely natural and intuitive.

3. i wouldnt say the wii is geared towards kids, being that a big portion of the games available for it are games that people in their 20's grew up playing in the mid 80's and on. kids dont want those games.

that being said, the nice thing about the wii, is it IS accessible to everyone. even people who can't grasp the concept of push this button, your character does this, can grab a wiimote and play since the control is so intuitive.

any other specific questions just ask

my only complaint is they packaged it with 3 copies of the consoles manual in different languages yet wii sports came in a cardboard sleeve. would have rather just got an english manual and use the extra money on a dvd case.

I will hopefully be getting it in a month. I'm not one of those people who cares about graphics as much as pure fun. Its also cool because you can download old nintendo and supernintendo games.

you MUST TELL ME how Zelda is on there. Hey smoger, how are the graphics on that thing? and are they all sold out like the PS3? or can I go to circuit city and pick one up?

Zelda is VERY good! It has the old zelda feel, but I am not convinced that its better than Ocarina Of Time.

The graphics are average. Nothing record breaking. They are sold out right now, but keep checking at your local stores (ToysRUs seems to be the best source) because Nintendo says they are gonna be here for Christmas.

Remember though, that Zelda started out as a gamecube game so the graphics are not a good indication of what the system will do in the future. That being said though, the framerate is smooth as silk, draw distance is excellent, and the water effect is the best ive ever seen on a console.

Nonetheless, if graphics are all you care about(not you, Will) the Wii may not be your system because the hardware is nowhere close to rivaling the PS3 or Xbox in that regard. It only goes up to 480p. But what I lacks in power it makes up for in fun.(and price).
