Hey guys. I was wondering, since my Jetta (95 Jetta III) is a litte slow (it's stock.)
I want to do a CAI. Would that even make a performance difference? It's a 2.0 NA 5 Spd.
Also, a cat-back exhaust is in the future.. but probably not for AWHILE....
What else could I do for faily cheap but effective? some sort of chip or something?
Pretty new to tuning, but not really to mechanical work.
Thanks guys!

I would join a more VW oriented forum if you aren't already on them.
There are more people that are familiar with the 2.0 motor.

www.vwvortex.com
As for chips...

I would definatly start by going to the vortex. Here are some of websites. You might have some luck just searching 'performance parts' too.

The drop in K&N filter is supposed to give a better performance, than a CAI. I am planning on getting a Ram for mine instead of a CAI, just cuz where i got to school it seems like it rains every 3 days or so.

you got a 2.slow --- unless you good money for a SC or turbo.... other mods don't do much for power. My advice, keep the car in tune.
The first thing I would spend my money on is lighting-- at minimum get E-codes (with adapter brackets). The stock 9004 lights are pretty pathetic.
Then get a Euroswitch with fogs so you can get fog lights (and if you want, disable the DRLs).
Next... suspension is probably shot:
If you want something that handles: www.srsvw.com for the Shine Real Street Suspension.
If you want looks in a budget.... www.dynamicmotorworks.com (great people) for the Patec Top Touring: $500 plus mounts and such
Exhaust: you have Autotech, Techtonics Tuning.... www.thescirocco.com

depending on what shape your stock cat back is in, you can have mine if you pay to have them switched, that is if your stocker isn't all rusted and ****. btw mine is a 2.0 assuming yours is too.
