I originally had a kenwood headunit with the reversable faceplate in my camaro. Well I sold the headunit and now I am looking for a headunit similar to it where the faceplate rotates to a black plactic face when the stereo is off. I know for a fact that kenwood has discontinued all models that were like this, cause i looked on the kenwood site for them with no luck, and crutchfield said the one that I had was discontinued. Where could I go about finding the #'s for the other units. I did a google search for kdc-x881 (the unit I had) to try to find similar models with only the kdc-x811 coming up. Just wanted to see if anyone knew the #'s for the other models.
Thanks:thumbup:

No the kameleon didnt flip 180 degrees it just blacked out. This unit I'm talking about had buttons and all on it like a regular unit but it flipped 180 degrees when it was off. Definately kenwood though.

I think you're talking about the old Kenwood eXcelon units w/ the MASK feature. They're all over eBay, use keyword: kenwood excelon

My Kenwood MP919 did that. The cable for the face is known to break and it stays half open. It came stock in the Mazdaspeed Protoge. I really miss the flipping feature, and no one makes a head unit with that feature anymore. IMHO its just not reliable/gonna last long. Mine lasted 3 years, not what I wanted after dropping $475.

I have a Kenwood KDC-715s that did what you are talking about. Sitting in a box collecting dust. Still worked perfectly fine last time I used it.

What color is the button lighting on it? The pics I find of it are green and I was wondering if it had the option to change it to red like my old headunit.
