July 2006 -
So after showing my car at VW Super Jam, I decided to save up my money and get my whole front bumper, the top of my rear bumper, and my mirrors resprayed. I also got my new grille painted and a nasty rust spot on my rear right fender cut out, new metal welded in, and resprayed as well. I got it back the day before Waterfest 12.

September 2006 -
I finally decided on doing my first real performance mod, and went with Stainless Steel Techtonics Tuning Exhaust and a Stainless Borla Muffler.

I believe the only real difference between them other than the wiring for sure is the reflective properties ( like the backing and the actual headlight glass ). Feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

maybe we have different taste, i don't really care for those wheels (mk5). i saw a mk3 with them, i felt sick. my car needs 15s or 16s, anything bigger won't look that great plus i only have springs/shocks, no coils.

Sorry I can't help you with the photshop, but I am really liking how your car is coming together. You have great taste and I like the clean simple look of your car, it kinda reminds me of how my own car has come together in certain ways.

Those wheels would look sick on your car, if your looking for stylish yet affordable. If I'm not mistaken there is a Porsche wheel that is very similar that is comon on Mk II's and Mk III's.

Keep up the good work.

thank you. i like hearing peoples opinions and not just volkswagen people. those wheels would cost me 300 and its a local guy selling. i'd still need tires, center caps, and adapters. it would still be affordable for me though. i don't see myself spending much more then 1k after everything. i really don't want something that is over done when it comes to wheels. i know of porsche wheels that are very nice too, but i don't know if they are the same you are talking about because they are more flat. thanks!

While it is a little too low for my tastes, I do agree that it looks clean and simple. Maybe some mk2 wheels such as snowflakes or teardrops would be up your alley. I picked up a set of teardrops last year for $50. Even a set of BBS basketweaves would be badass.

its really not that low. if it looks low i'm probably cheating on my steep driveway or something. i only have a 60/40 cupkit. i'm not looking for cheap wheels necessarily. i'm looking for wheels that would keep me happy for a pretty long time. i really like the borbets.

I am pretty sure the stretched tires started because of regulations in euro on tire size. Might be wrong.

Drop looks good, rear could go a little lower

What are your "dream wheels"? BBS something or another? Buddy of mine has a black GTI riding ridiculously low (major tuck all the way around) and he's grabbing some Borbet's ASAP that oughta look real good with the MkIII:

And btw he has the same exhaust on his MkIII...that thing sounds amazing!

i looked into type a's before i got my wheels. i'm really happy with mine too minus the rubbing and negative camber up front, but they will do until i can afford my dream wheels. my dream wheels are closer to the 3k range though... that is why i say a few years. :P i like wrd's and bbs gottis.

there are a lot of rs's on mk3s as well. last h2o, more than half my class had rs's i think. it must be nice to have that kind of money. i didn't even want wheels yet, but i found mine last year at volksfest for 200 bucks. the wheels, tires, adapters, centercaps, lug nuts cost me in all about 900. i was on a tight budget since i also had my rocker panels redone last summer because of rust. that along with any other little areas they took care of cost me 1600.

Also, if you're looking for something mesh, Work VSXX's look wicked in larger sizes :bigeek: not sure about the 15's/16's you'd be running (I know 17's don't even fit on my buddy's car).

I barely looked at anything besides mk3s and mk4s (my sister has one) at h2o and spent most of the day at my car meeting people. I'm not looking for any wheels at the moment anyway, I haven't even had the clk wheels on a year yet. School is my biggest priority at the moment, so everything for my car is pretty much on hold now besides necessary stuff. I'd also not prefer mesh when I do get other wheels eventually, but I would make an exception for WRD's. Where are you from? I'm guessing you are also on vortex...

from august '06 until maybe mid january i guess. Paul doesn't like doing work that's not actually insurance claims so unless it was ins. realted, then he probably gave you the run around about pricing and such. i got him to be a vendor on this forum and that basically turned into my job for a while and all of a sudden he wanted nothing to do with it. :screwy: kinda gay. oh well.

well the first estimate was actually cheaper than conrad's by a little, but my sister had used conrad's before so i went with them. last summer i went for an estimate and talked to the owner's wife megan? and they ended up not calling me back, conrad's of course did, and i called them back and she said the work i was getting done wasn't worth it because of the age of the car and also said she doesn't like giving business away. well they definently did because i will never bother going to them again for anything for any car. conrad's does mostly insurance work too it seems like, but they have done my sister's car and mine and i'll actually probably be going back to them this summer to get my rear bumper repainted. i actually met another guy who worked at excel while at work, i forget his name though.

the rear could be lower, but i'm going to wait until i get coilovers and new wheels. i'm happy with the rake. i'm also trying not to go overboard with spending since i don't have much money with being a full time student and i should also be graduating soon. i'll have lots of loans to pay and i plan on getting myself a nice daily before i go all out. the headliner is going to be all black, i'm trying to go for the oem look. i've had black cabrio visors and black grab handles for a year now, just needed a little motivation! and the paint is mulberry metallic. thanks for all the comments. :)
