the other nite when it was pouring i decided to go out with a couple 240 drivers and learn 2 kick it. im really not that bad for a newb, but let me just say that it was a bad idea to learn in my car lol. the first attempt resulted in me loosing control of the car and sliding all over the 3 lane highway :help: (which was deserted) and ended with a 360 which i pulled off and kept goin lol. well anyway thers no real point to that story but does anyone else here drift with their STi?

360 spin and kept going. Thats skills written all over it.
you switched from a 350z to an STi and now you wanna learn to drift?
This thread reminds me of the one where that 17 year old girl lost control of her BMW in the rain and then posted 'I DRIFTED!!!' :rotfl: :rotfl:
do me a favor and go post this same story on nasioc for me..

"drifting" in an sti is generally a bad idea unless its snowing. be mindful of your differentials.

Here's a tip
Buy a V6 camaro RWD
Slam a big ole V8 in it
Buy a stronger diff
Drifto mondo!
Did I mention I'm selling a V6 camaro?
well idk if id call it that ill b completley honest i didnt know what the hell i was doin but what ever i did it happened lol
here's what I would call it-- 'being an asshat in a powerful car on public roads'
listen to Chaos-- keep the subie in the snow in EMPTY parking lots if you wanna have some fun.

im not sure of the number.. but that actually make it harder on the diff's IMO... just keep it off the roads man...

Lol. But, at least this guy isn't saying he drifted.
I'd keep it off the roads though. especially when you're sliding all over the place

What exactly are we talking about here, actual drifting or driving around corners rally style?

I was taking it as though he was talking drifting as in, RWD style. Not rally style pavement E-Brake slides around turns.

That's the best in the rain, when its empty road, you just power through a corner on stock horrible tires and slide.. fun stuff. Its not "drifting" but its fun.

i'll take making insurance rates higher for people who dont need to spin cars around on public roads alex.
drifting isnt about turning the wheel hard.
and had you paid attention to 3 fast 3 furious, the awd car was converted to rwd to drift.
...i challenge you for title of dk in my fwd! HRRRuhah!

Probably the worst tire to dismount in the history of tires
I hate Sti's Stock tires when I worked at Just tires...The sidewall is stiff as hell.
But anyway you people wonder why everyone gets there panties all bunched up in this place, It's His car not yours stop attacking the guy. He wanted to tell us a story so he did...He didnt say OMG IM THE BEST DRIFTER EVER and it was wet so its not as bad as trying it on dry pavement, So he has some intelligence in him.
Geez Every post I see that isnt something of intrest to most people gets flamed and the Thread starter has to defend himself instead of talking about his experience.
I've gone on a dirt road and had some fun and def got sideways in the rain...Have fun with your car and do what you want.

Its a public forum, as soon as you hit that 'post' button, you are accepting the fact that some people might have a negative opinion of the topic/subject at hand. People need to grow up and expect that if they throw their experiences out on the table, not everyone is gonna eat it up.
If I posted that I just murdered someone in my kitchen, im sure I would get a negative reaction. Not 'hey it's your life do whatever you want with it!!'

Good for you for at least learning the limits of your car. I'm sure you know the risks involved and it's your car to do it in. As long as you're not putting anyone else in danger, I'd say keep practicing! There's an SCCA rallycross coming up, that would be great driving on dirt. :rally:
