Zalman 7000Cu HSF
1g Corsair PC3200 RAM
120GB Seagate SATA HD (Main)
300GB Maxtor HD (Music)

It's nice to have a top-of-the-line computer again. The last one I built four years ago was also top of the line for then, but by now it was getting outdated (1.4ghz Tbird, 1GB SDRAM, etc).

Well, my new work/play laptop is a Dell Inspiron XPS laptop.

3.4 GHz Pentium 4 w/ HT Technology
1 GB Dual Channel DDR SDRAM (400 MHz)
128MB ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 8x AGP
15.4" WUXGA Display
60GB Hard Drive (7200rpm)
8x CD/DVD dual-layer burner
Gigabit LAN card and b/g internal wireless card
And, of course, my awesome padded XPS backpack

I got it the first week in January, and of course about a month later they came out with their 2nd gen one that's 193852398572 times better.
2 GHz mobile chip, DDR2 SDRAM (533 MHz), 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800 ultra x16 PCI-E, 17" Display...damn you Dell.

But I will say, nothing beats the system we built at work in January:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64-bit 2.2 GHz
2GB (2x1GB) Crucial Ballistix DDR SDRAM (400MHz)
Dual (yep, two) 256MB EVGA NVIDIA GeFORCE 6800 Ultra x16 PCI-E with SLI-capability
Three Seagate Barracuda 200GB SATA (7200rpm) Hard Drives in Raid 5 Setup
Zippy 700W Power Supply
Sony 8x CD/DVD Dual-Layer Burner
Can't forget a Floppy Drive!
Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Oh, and it's running on two 60" Pioneer Plasma Flat Screen TV's and a large NEC Overhead Projector.

And I'm not a computer nerd...I just have a BS and MSE in it from Hopkins :P

i need more hds

pentium celeron 2.5ghz
onboard intel graphics/sound
1gig pc2100 ddr-ram
40gig 7200rpm (main)
160gig 7200rpm w/8mb cache Maxtor (storage)
Logitech keyboard/mouse (i love my logitech!)
Sony SDM-HS74P LCD 17inch

Drives I swap (2slots):
-52xCDR-RW
-48xCDR-RW
-52xCDR-RW
-16xDVD-Rom

Windows XP Home SP2 dual boot with Unbuntu Debian/Linux version 6.xx.

Everything is black casing for this system down to the mouse and Monitor.

I have an almost exact same setup on another Pentium Celeron 2.4gig system. Also have a Pentium celeron 2.5 emachines that's "stock." Also have a handful of older systems running Linux boots or Windows 2000. Random old laptop laying around with who knows what specs. Two HP printers, 1210PCS and like a 1315PCS. Eventually I'll be running a tvin/out card, upgrade to an ATI Raedon graphics card, wired up to my stereo in my room (two amazing floor Polk Audio speakers). Also have my ps2 on the network and my Dell DJ-20 which I use daily for everything. I don't use CD players anymore. I think eventually the downstairs of my house will be wireless with a daisy chain setup on linksys routers (i use a wired linksys as of now) and I'm considering picking up a powerbook because Apple has been appealing to me recently and would be nice for recording my solo work/any bands I might get together in the future.

ps. all the systems run celeron because i bought complete systems from tigerdirect, compaq, and emachines for $200-$300 and just ripped them down with some new memory, OS hacking, and bigger HDs. My main system will be receiving a CPU/motherboard upgrade in the future. I just don't know where to spent my money; computer, car, or g/f.
