The 06 Sti was purchased on may of 2006 to replace my 500 whp srt-4. You may ask yourself why would anyone do that but one 3k rpm launch on one and one 6k rpm launch on the other will answer this question. I bought my car to mod the hell out of it not for warranty. My plans are to begin to do some serious work to it around spring of 07. in july of 2006 i did my 1st mod, which was an SPT Catback in September of 2006 i decided to go with an External Wastegate Setup with an HKS 3 Downpipe, the Downpipe used a flat flange and the SPT Exhaust used a donut so i had to get rid of the SPT and installed a custom 3" straight pipe. with this set up the car went 13.1 @103 mph consistently the 1st time me ever going down the track with this car. Towards the winter the noise from the ewg and exhaust became annoying so i went back to stock. in January i got the bug again, needed to do some modding that will later be able to utilize with my future setup, So I installed a 3" Catback ( this time with a resonator) My hks, downpipe back on and reflashed the car with my custom stage 2 map. Car feels very good for now. My frontmount arrives tommorow so stay tuned!!!!!

my 1/4 miles are 13.1 @103mph on 15 psi with just an exhaust

Well today i finally installed my meth kit on the car , took me a little longer than expected but the install is very clean, since i did a custom install radther than the way most people set it up.

1st i used the stock intercooler sprayer tank

the vacum line that normally was used to bring the intercooler water from the rear of the car to the front is now my vacum source for the boost preassure sensor. makes it clean and factory looking.

next i pulled the stock ic sprayer switch out and wired it so there is constant 12v going to the trunk i used this to run power to the pump when the boost switch sees a certain psi it injects the meth. at the same time when the tank is almost empty the stock intercooler sprayer light comes on on the dash telling me to add more methanol/water. i also wired an led to the pump and ran the wire to the front of the car and installed it on the empty switch cover. when the system is injecting it blinks letting me know everything is working 100%.

here are some pics. since we sell the kit im in the proccess of doing a how to on my vendor section for the sti.

update!!!! i can finally say im in love with my car!!!!!! finished tuning last night seeing about 19.5 psi and 11.5 afrs. i do have room for more boost if i richened it out but im maxing out the stock bcs :( as soon as i have some extra funds ill do the gm solenoid.

Buster
03-29-2007, 02:59 PM
so when can i get my hands on your turbo? :) How does the kit work and what happens when it runs out?

ray@turbotek
03-29-2007, 03:06 PM
so far i filled up the tank 4 days ago and the tank is still almost full. i get a warning on the dash when my stock tank is almost empty , on top of that there is a fail safe which lets you know when the nozzles are clogged, water is spraying or nothing coming out. for another 50 buck i just ordered a boost control sylenoid which only works when the system detects water being injected. if water stops flowing it pulls boost back.

Buster
03-29-2007, 05:45 PM
So there is no drawbacks to running when the tank goes empty? Im really not sure how this works ray lol. very confusing to me. would it be worth it on my stock turbo or would we be assuming correctly that me running with Ap and MBC set at 17 ive pretty much maxed myself out?

another update, the ported turbo is awsome, absolutley no boost creep if i set it at 20 psi it goes 20 psi from 2n gear all the way through 5th with out going over. of course it tapers down around redline. from a roll it never goes over my desired psi in any gear. and the best part is that there is no LAGggGGGGGGGg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Will lets get together tommorow

ray@turbotek
05-03-2007, 09:58 AM
Many people run helper springs to keep the gate closed longer but have the issue with the heat from the turbo screwing up the spring. well recently i ported the wastegate in the turbo exhaust housing to get rid of the boost creep on my sti. i only ported the inside as per another how to. i went a little too aggresive with the port to make sure there was no creep and when i put everything back together the car will not reach the target boost, and actually looking back now im glad did.

my theory- porting too much on the inside was blowing the wastegate opened i guess from more exhaust flow to the gate.

I removed the wastegate from the car and put the arm on a vice made sure it was tight. i used a rubber mallot to bang down the arm so that it bend the arm a little shorter. with about 3 bangs i shortened the gate about 1mm or so. installed it back in the car and notice how much tighter it was with that slight bend. went for a ride and man the car feels amazing, had to do some fine tuning to fuel and boost maps but it feels amazing. it even holds boost a bit more boost at higher rpms. i figured id post this , im sure im not the only one has done this but i havent seen anything on here but the helper spring mod.

car i running 20psi
tapers to about 17.5
car hits 20 psi regardless of the gear im in except 1st and 2nd and does not go over that, wether from a roll or a dig. i also still have alot of fuel left so i will be leaining the car a bit more and upping the boost to 21.5 psi

well going reverse manifold and tgv deletes very very shortly stay tuned

What is this reverse manifold all you subaru guys talk about?

ray@turbotek
06-22-2007, 04:28 PM
basically if you look at the subaru intake manifold the throttle body faces the rear of the car. when doing a fmic you need like 75 miles of piping. when you reverse the intake manifold the throttle body faces the front of the vehicle. making the distance from the intercooler endtanks to the tb closer causing less lag because of the shorter air travel. because the pipes will now be towards the front of the engine the piping will not get as hot as my current setup which takes the cold side of my intercooler by the turbo area before entering the tb, which will result in cooler air charges

I see, makes sense. I'm just assuming it's not as easy as unbolting the manifold and flipping it around. Good luck. :)

well i figured i should start turning my members journal into somewhat of a resource incase anyone decides to go a similar path.

well i been very unsuccesful to replicate the stock driveability with the pe injectors, and part of the reason is that no one knows the proper latecy values and scaler values due to variances in injectors. it is becoming a lil difficult for me since i have a fmic, intake, and big injectors all in and all affect long and short term fueling drastically. so im going at it a different route, but will save me the headache of having to mess with maf scaling, latency and injector scaling all at the same time.

tonight im going to install a stock top mount and install my factory airbox and
at this point the main things i need to concentrate on to get to the stock fuel trims on the 850's are the injector scaling map, and latency values.
ill figure out the proper scaling 1st then figure out the latency values untill i get my long and short term to where it needs to be on the 850's.

at this point the car should idle damn close to stock and drive like stock under normal driving conditions. so what next? i will then install my fmic and my intake back on the car and my fuel trims will go a little whack again however at this point the changes to the fuel trims i know were caused by the maf. I will then adjust the maf scaling to get the fuel trims back to where they were with the stock airbox and tmic and baddabing.

Nah, he just has wicked turn around time on parts

I would love it if I was speculating on this seat (http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop/prodrive-competition-fixed-back-seat-p-526.html) and it magically installed itself on my car too. As of yet, it hasn't happened but I have high hopes

Turn around time???? an hour????
lol

You painted your wheels, or powdercoated them?

Also, PM me with the size and wattage you wanted in that Infiniti Bass Link - my stereo buddy got in touch with me.
