Honest_Bob
02-15-2007, 01:09 PM
How do you like the Fastline mudflaps??

Great! They get the crap kicked out of them on a daily basis, they scrape comming out the driveway, they scrape on the one hill on the way to work and especially when I got someone in the back. I swear they should have been ripped off about 20 times by now. They also function dually as curb feelers, I have yet to scrape any rims on curbs since I put them on. The mud flaps will rub first. Keeps all that tar off my paint too. I'll be picking up another set of mounting hardware this spring so I can take them off and clean behind them. Its almost impossible to take them off without ruining the plastic fasteners used to mount them.

wow, I just wrote a paragraph on how much I like mudflaps... :screwy:

STI_wagon
02-15-2007, 02:04 PM

http://gallery.honest-bob.com/d/4986-2/DSCF0614.JPG

Stock WRX splitter VS APS 02-03 STI Splitter. The APS unit is supposedly THE biggest one on the market. I wasent sure if it was going to fit properly on my 05 WRX since it was designed for the 02-03, but it pretty much bolted right up. The two bottom screws didnt go in straight but they went in. I'm very happy with the splitter, its the perfect fit.

She feels smooth, real smooth. It seems as if the waste gate would struggle more with the stock intercooler. Constantly stuttering not keeping steady control of the boost. I love it and for $183 shipped for the intercooler it cant be beat VS $700 for a brand name TMIC.

Does the splitter actually make a difference? I mean with the tmic that big and basically resting up against your hood scoop like that.

Honest_Bob
04-11-2007, 12:36 PM
I say its the diffrence between having air graze over the top of the intercooler and actually running all the way through it. This splitter also has a fin in the middle directing the air towards the front of the intercooler. If it makes a diffrence I'll probably never know but $65 for a nice stock looking piece that creates a semi air tight seal around my intercooler and keeps my engine bay from getting obscenly dirty it seems worth it. :)

JET02WRX
04-11-2007, 01:02 PM
Yep I got the 65 dollar special!
And you are right on with the answer to Enders question. The whole point is to have a good seal around the intercooler and not waste one bit of air coming in the scoop. The opening is also a little wider to accomidate the larger surface area of the intercooler. The extra splitter fin helps spread the air out over the entire intercooler lowering temps a little. Every bit helps.

I've officially decided that the Greddy SP2 is way to quiet. Ryan over at Area1320 was saying something about finding a catless downpipe on ebay for $65 shipped. Going catless would deffinitly give me more volume so I decided to see what $65 gets me. If it works out, great! If not maybe I can have Ryan work some magic and turn it into a straight pipe. :)

Downpipe is on! It fit pretty well except the hangar. I found out the maddad downpipe I had on it has a 1" crack in the pipe right by the hangar. I noticed lately that the car seemed to be slightly stuttering past 5k rpms and the EGT would soar after hitting 5k rpms. The data logging I did yesterday proved that something was wrong. It was dropping from 22 degrees of timing down to 12 after getting above 5k rpms. I have no idea what that means but I'm guessing that combined with the EGT's soaring once hitting 5k rpms that I was running lean. I'm back on the cobb stage 2 map. The EGT's are in a normal range and it pulls like crazy up top again.

Lesson learned. Dont switch to a catless downpipe after getting tuned for a downpipe with a high flow cat. :o

Duh...no sleep FTL.....i knew it was an 05.. no coffee when I typed that....

I definately NOT saying it was Andy's fault.. just that he could confirm your suspicions... Just proves that the uppipe cat IS just that bad of a restriction... I didn't think it'd be that noticable as far as affecting a tune.

Actually its the cat in the downpipe that I changed out. I've had a catless uppipe since the begining of time.

First stop Harbor Freight! Pickup a die grinder to port and polish the manifolds I have laying around. Then possibly the throttle body and stock turbo. Depends on how the manifolds turn out. If not off they go to Ryan @ Area1320.

Second stop Mr. Ray from TurboTek is going to get me on one of his stage 2 maps so I can sell the accesswhore and pickup an electric cutout.

let me explain bens situation, i was called to come up there and retune the wagon because he had notice its been knocking with his prior tune. so i came up and ran some logs and verified that in fact the car was knocking and it was running extremely lean. the 1st steps were to pull his plugs and the findings were radther horrid all 4 plugs were super white. in hopes to figure out the issue at 1:30 am we decided to replace the plugs, we threw in the stage 2 map and tried tuning once again and within seconds we had knock again and afrs were 14.5 through out the entire powerband still. my guess is that the 02 sensor is on its way down south. needless to say i put the stock map back in and had the same issue. im just glad i went up there because if ben was not made aware of his issue and how severe it was, the car would have been a time bomb.

Not true. Only thing it blocks is the P0420 cat inefficiency code for the 02 sensor in the downpipe.

shortly after i got my accessho i tried to hook up a crappy little a/f guage that was electronic and my friend wired it through something in the ecu

it was reading correctly and i called coob and one of their techs said not only does it turn off the code it also pretty much turns off the rear o2

granted its cobb and they're full of poop anyhow and the guy could have been talking out of his grandmothers ass for all i know (friggin mormons) but thats what some dude at cobb said idk

Sentra's are pussy cars.

P&P Stock Manifolds
P&P Throttle body

Ryan at Area1320 had a spare throttle body laying around. He ended up porting and polishing it up so we threw it in my car last night. I cant say for sure that it did to much.
