Hello TST!

I have been on this site for about a year now and have enjoyed the local flavor it brings to the usual forum experience.

Most of you know/knew me as Pearlcoupeg35. I have met a few of you at meets (chaosclarity, s4tosti, etc) and look forward to meeting more of you guys in the future.

Im now posting/lurking under a new name - TripleBlack9SE - since i sold the G35 and got a 2006 Evo IX Special Edition.

So here are some pics of the new ride! I hope you like it. Thanks.

Mods thus far include tinted windows all around (20%), ARC titanium shift knob, Orbital DoubleDin conversion kit with Pioneer Z1 head unit, JL Audio w7 10" sub in custom box, and shaved emblems front and rear.

Any one final pic of my old ride...2004 G35 Coupe with many mods.

How great is that Orbital kit :) Congrats on the new ride!

Thanks for all the kind words guys (and gals)

I am enjoying the EVO a lot! I love the power and power-delivery compared to the N/A VQ35 G motor. The sounds that come out of the engine bay are unreal! I also am enjoying the handleing - its SO light compared to the "portly" G35 its a big change. I feel a lot more connected to this car when driving it hard. The G was VERY comfy, but not nearly as 'pure' as the EVO.

I made the change (downgrade as some may say) becuase i just bought a new home and needed to save some cash. I also needed something that is more versitle (All Wheel Drive, 4 doors, large trunk, etc) as oposed to a RWD coupe.

Ender81 - I am from Downingtown. So i doubt youve seen my car...

CrzyGuy - Thanks man! I have waited a while to get where i am at in the "modding car game". You will get there too!

ToyotaTat - i have MANY plans for the EVO. After the system is all squared away, i plan on lowering the car with Tein FLEX w/EDFC. Adding front and rear sway bars and then doing the brakes. I love the power this car has out of the box and want to "master" it before upping the HP/TQ. So once it handles and brakes VERY well - im sure ill go searching for more powah!

Levon - Thanks man! It sure beats the SUV i told you i was thinking about eh?

201motorsports - the orbital kit is GREAT - but the finish is a bit "cheap" so im having it custom painted 'Tarmac Black' like the exterior of the car to make it look a little cleaner. Ill be sure to post some pics when its all finished.

Thanks again everyone - stay tuned!

Very nice car.

FYI: With that new Pioneer double-din (and NAV too I'm assuming) if you send in your registration card to Pioneer...you get 1 year FREE roadside assistance.

No. I dont own a plane - yet!

James_is, ill look into that man - sounds like a good idea.

JDM87 - thanks man - the kit was all imported from Japan and custom fitted. As far as i know, it was the ONLY one of its kind in the US (or the world for that matter) with Kenstyle rear & sides + INGS fenders + data systems front grill & lip) I will miss that car for sure.

Yes. Lots of plans. First, id like to finish up the "system" project i have going...then suspension (coilovers, sways, etc), then do brakes. I am content with the power of the car (For now) so ill focus on other areas in the meantime.

ummm... I heard those neon windshield wipers add 5 hp anyway... lol

but anyway, i don't think it's a downgrade. Maybe in luxury, but not in other things... but if i had to pick from the 2 i'd pick evo. So i still say nice upgrade

Nice car. Shoulda kept the G and did a duece boost,
or even better a VQ45DETT.

Thanks MissDSM...i dont consider it a downgrade either - just a change. Im not even gonna get into the ways the two cars are different because if you are reading this you should already know. But i will say that it sure is cheaper to make the EVO a little "nicer" by adding navigation, xm radio, backup camera, 6000k HIDs, speakers & sub, etc etc etc...as aposed to spending $15,000+ on the G35 to make it run like an EVO with a Twin Turbo kit and built motor.

As far as what 'i' would pick? hahaha...isnt it obvious? :wiggle:

TripleBlack9SE

or even better a VQ45DETT.

See my post above - i didnt want to drop $15k on the G's motor...just not practiacal for me now with my new home.

However, if i can dump like 3-4k into the EVO over the next 6 months or so, ill have a car thats just as fast - and has 4 doors and AWD.

:supz:

PS: A Twin Turbo G35 is obv WAY cooler than a slightly modded EVO, but hey, gotta make some comprimises in life right? (dammn i sound old)

Am I the only one that caught on to you saying upgrade the brakes??? It already has Brembo's, what else do you want? The only thing I dont like about the brakes is the feel of the pedal (compared to my m3) and I am not sure what can be done if anything to help that.
