SO I will be swapping out the auto in my 240 finally, I just got the last thing(flywheel/resuface) and was looking to get some last minute info.
Antony, this is more for you. What did you do about the park switch? I know there was some wiring done to get the car to think it was in park/neutral so it would start.
Also, are all the plugs just plug and play? Will the car need to see a speed sensor signal to run? I just want to cover all the bases before I get started so I don't get too many surprises. I need to be all buttoned up and ready to rock by next Saturday for the fall run.
Will post a step by step as I go, with pics.

They are basically the same. i swapped my s14, and my buddy’s s13 hatch over with no problem. i believe the only difference is going to be the neutral safety switch on the S13 is the bottom plug, and not the top one (right behind the fuse box on the passenger side in the engine bay). You can completely bypass this by just linking the two wires together, or you can do it the right way and wire it to the bottom switch on the clutch pedal. I believe the s13 only has one switch on the clutch pedal, but if my memory is wrong and it is like the s14 (which has two), use the bottom one. Basically, when the clutch is pushed down, it touches the switch and completes the circuit, allowing the car to start.
The car will run without a speed sensor, without any sensors on the tranny for that matter.
make sure you remember the freaking pressure plate bolts... we completely forgot about them and couldn’t find a store open to get them at the time we swapped the s13. Oh, and locktite everything...
my name is shawn, if you want some help i have off on sunday. PM me if you want my number.
edit: dont drop the exhaust like they say in the tutorial thing.

Thanks man, it'll probably be a Monday thing. I already hung the pedals and the clutch master, so that's out of the way, all I need now is the physical trans install.

The pics should be the same:wink: as the ones in my garage. There will be a write up though in this Nissan section.

make sure you have a reaaaaaaallly long extention for the top bolt on the bell housing. that was the only way we could get it out..

Just go to a good nissan forum and search there. I would recommend Freshalloy and maybe zilvia. Stay away from nico, 240sxclub/forums/idiots/i sold my honda so i could dorifto type forums. A million people have done this and a million people have done writeups. It's nothing new or extraordinary. It should be very straightforward. Just double check on FA for the wiring stuff and you'll be fine.

Thanks man.
I know Antony has done a few and I figured I would throw this out there.
Think a 38" extension is enough?:)

neutral start: it a clip with two fat wires, you have to link these
speed: i used the stock speed sensor. they all should be plug and play
reverse: this is was wired. you have to use your auto trans harness and find the wires for the reverse lights off that and link to the new reverse sensor
i didn't bother hooking up any other sensors
call me if you need anything

Halfway there. There is no mention of what a pain in the ass getting the auto trans bushing out of the crank.
Snags thus far:
crank bushing
the guy I bought it off of said the clutch was newer, it was dead. Shame too, it was an ACT 4 puck
cut the **** out of my thumb
All that's left is to put the trans IN the car, and do some wiring. My HID's showed up yestersday too, so they are going in as well.
Then I have to find the seal that goes on the trans tunnel. The shift knob and shifter boot are on order.
More to come later.

yeah, i completely forgot to tell you that renting a pilot bushing pull from pepboys would have made that much easier. Autozones suck.

Pipe wrenched that bitch out. Had to put a breaker bar on the crank to keep it from spinning though.
I'll throw up some more info later. On lunch now.
