This is the deal. I bought a Tiburon in June with a Greddy Evo2 Exhaust system already on it. 4 days after I took it home I heard a noise coming from the engine, what sounds like in the transmission. I take it back and the stupid service depart. told me it was the exhaust headers (some how) rubbing against the axel...that was bull cuz I had to replace the headers and cat in order to get a sticker on the car. So, I took it back Wed for that same sound and now they are telling me it is a clutch issue. Now, to my knowledge the only two things in the clutch/trans that will make a rattle would be the front bearing supporting the input shaft in the trans or the clutch release bearing. The noise only occurs when the car is running in neutral with my foot off the clutch. Somehow I need to have 1700$ worth of work done to the clutch? It sounds to me like they don't want to pay for the trans work cuz that is covered on my warranty and so they are calling it clutch work so I have to pay for it. I'm still learning, so I was wondering if anyone has some knowledge on what is going on and what to do?

it's most likily your throwout bearing and usually they aren't covered i your warranty, and the 1700 is probably b/c the throwout bearing mostly only comes in the clutch kit, and then the labor to put the throwout bearing and the new clutch in, if you have any problems PM me and we'll discuss this outside of the thread because the moderators don't like this thread becoming a chat session

thanks, still not sure I agree, but helpful, and isn't this called the general car related CHAT section? I'm confused.

it is, but i've actually got told to stop chatting a few times, it might have been because they were in a bad mood or something. it sucks about the clutch, and I understand why you don't agree but this is how dealerships get you, there's always the small percent that will help you, try going to another dealership, it might be a hike, but try, it might prove worth while

huh? if somone has a problem, they post it, people reply. thats how a msg board works!

if the noise goes away when u press the clutch, then its most likely the throw out bearing or your AXELS (belive it or not!). get them both checked out. have them give you a full breakdown of parts and laybor. most shops charge about 500bucks laybord for a clutch job, plus the cost of parts. dealerships tend to over price these types of things. if they want too much, just take the car to another place.

if the problem is the throw out bearing. make sure you replace the entirer clutch while the tranny is off. its also a good idea to have them do the rear main seal, depending on how old your car is.

i dont know were you live, but AMACCO on ridge pike, in norristown is good. about 400-500 laybor and they do good work and good customer service.

would this be the same answer if I just found out that I have a duel clutch? The service guy didn't know what that really is belieive it or not, I still have to call Colonial Motors to see what specifically they think it is, ( it was brought to both the colonial Hyundai and the McCaferty Hyundai) the only reason I am reluctant to go to a diff place is because this is a whole lemon issue from the day I bought it;I brought it back right after I bought it with the noise and they totally ...ed up the diagnostic saying it was the after market exhaust.

i'd say throw-out bearing. go over to newtiburon.com and ask those guys. they'll be able to tell you. i can't remember if the delta has any tranny issues. most likely tho the previous owner f'ed it up especially if it was already modded.

It is hard to say what any issues are when it comes to noises without hearing the problem first.. I do not know where you are located but if you would like to stop by my shop I will be happy to take a look at it for you for no charge, sometimes it helps to have a second set of ears to diagnose a noise problem.. The shop is located in Hulmeville, PA, five minutes north of Philly..
