View Full Version : WTB: Cheap commuter car...must be reliable above all else!

I am going to be selling my Saturn soon (fed up with it). I need a cheap, reliable car to get me back and forth from college for a couple years, until I'm out and can buy a real car that won't get laughed at when I'm at the strip or car meets, like the Saturn did.
I have only one stipulation, other than reliable: it has to be a 5-speed.
I really don't care what brand, model, color, condition, or mileage, as long as it's reliable (read: doesn't need a new engine.....if it needs a timing belt or brake pads, that's fine, but nothing more). A EF or EG Civic would work fine. Saturn has single-handedly convinced me never to buy another American car. I'm not saying they 're all be this crappy, but mine certainly was.
Oh, by the way, something in the $1K-$1.5K range would be awesome. That's probably all I'll be able to get for the Saturd.
Thanks guys.

Sadly i have no vehicle to sell you, but esp for that price range i would def go with a subaru or toyota for dependability... Good luck with the search!

Most interesting....you have any pictures? What kind of condition/mileage? I know I said condition doesn't matter much.......it doesn't. But if it's rusty, I'll know I have to brush up on my Bondo/fiberglassing skills :D
I was looking on e-Bay....MkI MR2s go for like $700. Don't know about relability, but it's an old Toyota. They run for years with only a new timing belt and oil changes.

What is the mileage on your Saturn and does it need anything done? I just blew the head gasket on my Civic and I might be in the market for some new wheels...

Guys, seriously, look at the post date.
Since this post, he's sold that saturn, bought a maxima, sold the maxima, and bought another saturn. His green coupe was an oil squirter. Every time he started it, it blew a whole hell of a lot of oil and gas and **** out of the tailpipe. It was a big problem car.
End of story.
Please read the post dates before posting up things. This post is 2 years old.
