What is the difference, pro/cons, of getting a SAFC with a Wideband to tune the an evo yourself verses getting a reflash/ dyno tune?

n00b.

j/k. i'm sure others will chime in here, and I'm no EVO expert, but I was told that an EVO will react better to a flash, as opposed to tuning by yourself with a SAFC & wideband....BUT...a safc can compliment a re-flash/tune and make it even better, not the other way around....

maybe I'm wrong, but that's how it was explained to me. flash/tune, then safc/tune, in that order....is that correct?

I've had both on my car and a flash by far is superior.

an SAFC is a OK tool for tuning but by itself it won't can't eliminate fuel cut, boost cut, or raise your rev limiter. It also can't provide you with the huge bump in midrange torque like a flash can.

A properly setup flash will do all of those things and more like increase your part throttle response, decrease spoolup time & add launch control. Just to name a few features.

Just be careful who you go to for your tuning because the tool you use to tune your car is only as good as the 'tooner'.

An SAFC can't control timing.

Do the flash....save yourself the headache of piggy backing/tapping into your ECU.

In short the AFC will give close to as much HP as a flash if tuned perfectly, but not even close to the amount of torque..This has to do with timing vs. fuel maps..IMHO AFC's are only worthwile on EVO's that are already flashed and want to run high octane race fuel.. Get flashed:)
