So the dude with the Evo with the flame vinyls down the side was at the quakertown meet tonight - I probed around his engine bay because he said it was a GT35R (among other things... fq400 lol) and lo and behold its a standard stock TD05. However, he approached and asked me if I was looking for something - told him I was looking at the turbo and he said the GT35R "Burned up" and that it was a 16g. It was a TD05... isnt a TD05 stock... saw the serial # and all.
Hrm?

Well.. yeah I guess. Why does he lie? And is a TD05 a 16g? I don't know mitsubishi turbos well enough to know, but know a TD05 is not a GT35R

When you have something like an Evo or an STI or even a wrx or an SRT4 is there anything really all that horrible about saying it's stock? I will never understand some people's need to get attention like that.

His name on here is Piro. He is a good dude and from what I was told he used to have a gt35r on there before but is not back on the stock td05h-16g. Ask Ray from turbotek, he actually worked on the car.

It wouldn't be that bad if he just claimed to have a GT35R on it at one point... but he was calling it an FQ400 up here in Q-Town back when there were meets @ Nestors.

Well.. yeah I guess. Why does he lie? And is a TD05 a 16g? I don't know mitsubishi turbos well enough to know, but know a TD05 is not a GT35RTD05 is just the turbine housing family/group. I know that 16g's did come in that, but the important part to look out for is the serial # (as you said you saw) as well as the number on the exhaust housing (which is damn near impossible to see on the car).

car was running originaly a gt35 setup it was one of the stealh kits like the aps ones which use the stock manifold, it was recently removed and the stock turbo was put back on due to bearing faliure. the turbo was leaking oil like a sob. it will be back on very shortly though. he is now running his stock evo mr turbo.

He compared it to an FQ not claimed. I also know Piro and not only is he not a lair but he is a cool guy. When he first had the kit on was around the time that Fred had just gotten the VF34 installed. Why does everyone care so much?

Well now we know why it blew up.

ugh, thanks for the bump keith...
Hey, what is this. neve I said it was a FQ400. But thanks for the support. Fred drove my car with the old turbo(GT45), he can tell that was a fast car. Acually, that very same week I gave a few kids a ride that resulted in a verry eventfull encounter with the police. But good things never last for ever. Thank to Ray I'm building the evo's power, But much safer. and much less $$$ than the first time. Yes, the Gt35r will be back, but not from the same people. Before that I'm getting alcohol/H2O injection, and other supporting mods, then drop the turbo. I'm going to have much of my work done by Ray. He had help me greatly and he is very reasonable!!
Another thing. I'm not made out of money, this things are costly!!
