Im stationed here in NJ ar McGuire AFB. There is a big airshow coming up June 4-5 (<--- these are now the correct dates as of 11 May). All the top airplanes/fighter jets from the US military inventory will be there. It is open to the public and should be a great time for people that have never witnessed such an event. I was thinking that this might be something that we could possibly make an event out of? Right now i just want to see if anybody would be interested....then we could hook up a place to meet, time to meet, directions, etc. So holla back and we'll see if this has potential! :wiggle:

*UPDATE*: The dates are the 4th and 5th of June. (i will also update this on the original post). The base is located in Wrightstown, New Jersey. Its fairly easy access off of the NJ turnpike. Like Jamie said, the air show is a huge event, its going to be hard to get on base, so some strategic planning is gonna have to take place. I will ask around and come up with something. Myself and anybody else that is military will be able to get on base anytime, but i imagine there will be specific hours in which the general public is going to be admitted. Be forwarned that anybody thats wants to attend will probably have to be up at the buttcrack of dawn to avoid mass traffic and to guarantee getting into the show. :supz:

*UPDATE*: K, i just found the site for the airshow, i will link it at the end of this update. The Blue Angels will be there, w00t! The Army Golden Knights Parachute Team will be there as well. The AirForce Reserve Jet CAR will be there as well....10,000hp's! Sorry Matt, no F-22........But there will be some cool static walkarounds (wont be demonstrating, just on display) such as the tank raping A-10 warthog, F-15, etc. You can check out all there is to offer at the following link. Enjoy! If anybody has any questions, i will try my hardest to get answers via public affairs on base. http://public.mcguire.amc.af.mil/airshow/index.html

*UPDATE*20May05: Bad news for me, i am on standby for the airshow all day on Saturday from 7am-7pm. So i wont be able to meet up with anybody. I can help with coordination but i wont be able to hang out. We should definately start getting a list together of who is going to attend.

The Air National Guard is doing a flyover at Picatinny Arsenal for Armed Forces Day (May 21) also. Plus they are having a tank smash some cars and stuff.

For you military guys...

Willow Grove ARS is having an air show on May 26 to 29. The Blue Angels will be there and a lot of aircraft including our A-10's. Unfortunately, the two stealth fighters backed out after hearing we (USAF Security Forces) couldn’t provide security for them due to deployments. Apparently they laughed when the Navy said they would provide security for the planes. (The training for Navy MPs is a joke in the US military)
I should have brought my video camera for these last two weeks. I spent 3 days, 40 + hours total, sitting in my humvee turret watching the A-10s arm up and take off/land running sim sorties constantly.

I will be working one of the stands, so if you guys want a free pretzle just stop on by. I could also give a personal tour of the KC-10, may not be a f22 but im sure you guys will find it somewhat cool. Jon if you want we can meet up with a few peeps and escort them over to the line, Or if yall would like I can maybe set up a early tour of the place. Working on the flightline has some privies. DOnt hold me to that statement, I would have to see what kind of work besides the pretzle stand I have going on out there.

w3rd, we're gonna have to make a battle plan to get those on base that want to attend without them having to wait in line for 23642 hours. Hence the get there hella early theory. We might have to make some calls to public affairs and see if we can maybe get a heads up of the prime time to meet up.

........and arent yo supposed to be working! and learn how to spell pretzel, n00b! :finga:

Just let us know what we have to do. It would be awesome if we could avoid the crowd. Joe, if you could hook up a tour of any plane id be stoked. Im sure if the f22 was there they wouldnt let the public within 100 feet of it. Thanks for trying to hook us up guys!!

All I know is it sucks being a passenger on the receiving end of the fill up. Is there always spillage with C-141s? I only did that once or twice. just for clarification, I was talking to a bunch of buddies of mine who are DOD over there and they told me that even though it will be open to the entire public, it will only be accessible through the McGuire side, so all of us would have to enter from the wrightstown/cookstown area. and if it's gonna be like any airshow before it, you know damn well it's gonna be a fiasco with the line of traffic on the main road back there. so getting there early is a definite must!

I just spotted the blue angels doing a practice run for the willow grove air show. i was driving to school and the single jet flew over head, scared the **** out of me, then about a mile down the road 4 flew over in a staggred formation. Then later i saw them in their delta pattern trailing smoke... it was glorious!! I better be able to get off of work to make this meet, stupid kids and their proms, I really want to see the whole show.
