OMG someone know who Guyver!! Yippeee!!!! He's my FAVORITE superhero EVER!!!!

Insurance dictates how much your insurance will cost by 4 things. Where you live, your age, how many points you have, and the symbol of the car.

Basically the higher the symbol number the higher your insurance gets. a cavalier has like 12 while cars like the M3 has somewhere in the mid 20's, apparently the same as the Evo.

They calculate what the symbol will be with cost of repair, cost to replace, theft rate, engine size, hp, etc etc.

if u give me the first 10 of your vin i can find out for you. i have 27 possible symbol sets. btw, the syms you are probably thinking of are not industry standard as now some are letters.

in the mean time, the evo only goes as high as a comp sym of 22. there are also collisions syms, pip sysms, liability syms, etc that all play into rating. so there is not just one universal symbol.

I don't have an evo but I could probably get you a vin

is there a site you can look on that shows you what symbol your car is?

not to my knowledge. it is something each insurance company is required to file w/ the state they sell insurance in.

and yea if someone gets me the first 10 of an evo 8's vin i can tell you what all the symbols are, however, it is pointless as they are only per my company. another company can rate you differently.

if you do some searching, the Evo is the #1 most expensive car to insure. More than a z06 Corvette or an M3....

mostly because of the amounts of parts stolen out of the evos

If thats the case why buy an Evo when you get an M3? I'm pretty sure they are both as fuel inefficient. You wouldn't be saving any money at all.

hmm... about a $25k difference... lol can't even get a used m3 for the price of a new EVO.... Don't get me wrong though, I love the m3's.

What? The insurance on my GTi and Evo are almost identical.

ARRRGH. You guys do not understand. There is not one set symbol. You have comp, coll, sym, and pip syms 1-27, each play a factor in the rate.

just to prove you wrong......

2006 subaru impreza wrx sti

s2000 symbol set

liab - 7
comp - 13
coll - 17
pif - 05

s95 symbol set

liab - 2
comp - 24
coll - 22
pif - 00

and whomever asked befor...

2006 mitsu evo

s2000

liab - 12
comp - 13
coll - 16
pif - 14

s95

liab - 3
comp - 22
coll - 18
pif - 00

all syms are meaningless b/c each company bases rating on different factors.

Oh I'm sorry , when we talked to our agent to get a better rate, we were informed that the STi was a simple 26 and the WRX is a 24.

bms231

that may verywell be the case for your company if they base on one symboling component, but most do not.

The Evo is the number 1 car to insure, STi in number 4, and S2k in 7
