400whp in a much lighter / awd car is different animal all together. If he gets that out of it, don't expect to keep up.

There are two things to consider about dyno #s in AWD cars.

1. This is total net HP to the road from all 4 "moving" wheels. 2WD dyno #s don't take into account having to rotate the other set of wheels. It takes another 20-30 HP just to rotate those wheels. If you have 2 equal mass / equal "dyno" hp cars, 1 AWD and other RWD, the AWD will always win races / even from rolls because of this.

2. High HP 2WD can't just floor it in 1st and 2nd gear and take off without lighting up the tires. Until you experience this first hand, like flooring it in 1st around 90deg turn, you won't understand how usable AWD HP is.


This is why my STI "feels" and accelerates harder than my Z06 under 80mph, even though it is down 100whp to it. Over that speed aerodynamics and whp take over and it's Z06 FTW.

Your car is awesome and has tons of HP, but there is always another way to skin a cat. HP to the road / lb is what counts in the real world.

Well....i have a gigantic erection. I wanted 5lbs of boost tonite since thats what most people run with N/A engines w/ turbo kits. Well since mine is low compression we tuned it to 8lbs an boy is it fun. We maxed out the injectors so I wont be going any higher than that until I make that purchase. Thanks to ray and terry and brady for helping out and to the countless people who helped along the way.

I'm not new to the performance scene. I kinda figured it was something to do with AWD or a much lighter car, or both.

so I left rays like 30 mins ago. On the way home i noticed i wasnt getting much boost. Popped the hood and fixed that problem. Back to 8.5lbs.

Oh and add a clutch to the list of things to get.....my car reeks after a few launches. BTW i f'ng love my car now! There is no bog on launch....but there is definitly wheel and clutch spin lol.

I think I made it clear that I wasn't trying to be anywhere near rude, or try to sound mean. I wanted to know what was going on, because everyone was talking about no one being able to keep up, so I simply stated what I did.

I have no idea about awd cars and so I asked. I simply used my car as a reference because I know about it 1st hand. I could have said my one of my friends who runs mid to low 11s with around 450-500rwhp, but I didn't.

Like I said, I really don't know much about AWD cars, so if you could enlighten me that would be great. its actually a single turbo setup the whole twin turbo setup was a joke. every single part on his car was custom done by pete, friends and myself. the engine management also was never intended to work on the car but after spending time doing research and studying his wiring diagram i was able to install it and have it working flawlessly. i must say i was very impressed with the way the car felt after doing some tuning, pulls pretty good and runs like if it were stock, no bucking no hesitation just a clean powerband. we really couldnt tune to the way i would like too because he still needs a new fuel pump, injectors and now there is signs of a slipping clutch. cant wait till is 100% completed

8.5 lbs is pretty solid, with the fuel and clutch (+more boost) I'd be really happy. After that you'll just want more and then the limiter's gonna be internals and that tranny... but your car is 400+ pounds lighter so that 5 speed's gonna be happier anyway!

Yeah it is definitly a weird combo but I think it will prove powerful. There are many rumors about the early subaru blocks and one of them is that the ej18 has forged rods. No one has proved this but it is a commonly accepted myth.

I plan on pushing this block to the limit once i get a spare.
