WYO-TECH is one of the tops...but I don't think they have a Pennsylvania campus.

From what I've heard from PLENTY of people...if you're doing WYO...go to their MAIN campus in Wyoming.

i'd be interesting ni Wyo tech later on. first i'm going to go through lincoln tech and go for my ASE's then i want to go for high performance. its a big bonus to me that they teach welding both mig/tig because i've been wanting to do that. i currently am teaching myself on EMS tuning.

oh and thats exactly how things are around LTI. cops are on ur ass non stop. columbia has a rep for street racing and if you're caught doing anything stupid you can be kicked out fast! sux.

for everyone going to auto school i would recomend getting a part time job at a shop somewhere so you can really get your hands dirty before getting a full time job at a dealer. i have seen guys come through my shop that went to a auto school (uti, wyotech, atc) and dont know the first thing about fixing cars. good luck to everyone. there is alot of money to be made in this profession.

UTI is great for the beginning stuff.. Thier Hot rod U is 4 classes long..Nothing too in depth.

ATC jsut sucks...Went to both ATC and UTI.. ATC USED to be good.. I dont know about teh warminster campus... THe Exton one sucks tho.

LOL. Hot Rod building is the 3rd building on the left when your coming up the hill on Innovation Drive...

1st building is Upholstery, Collision, Refinishing
2nd building is the Automotive building, and driveterrain building
3rd building is Chassis Fab/ HOT ROD building with the main enterance/offices

I went to ATC several years ago and it was good. Just as I was finished Ford was coming in and everything went downhill.

Then Street Rod, Chassis Fab, and Applied Service management, that's another 9 months...

Lots of money is being spent, but I plan on having my own shop by 2010.

There's a couple guys in my refinishing class right now who are saying the same thing. They all agree though, ASM was worth it.

As for me, Refinishing now, then Collision. (Just a heads up, hope for more lectures from Marko than the other guys. When MIke or Gary are doing them, I pass out) Then Chassis Fab/High performance engines. I'm worried about that one, cause I know they are switching it to just the chassis fab, the one guy said if I signed up for it and it was still listed as high performance engine, then I'd get the old class. After that, coming back for Trim, ASM, Street Rod and if I have to, PowerTrans or whatever the new one is.

Same deal though... hope to have a shop up in NY when I'm done.

To the thread I'd definatly recomend wyotech. You go to school from 7-4 but you get done in less amount of time then most other schools because they usually go half days. I took asm and now finishing up chassis and going to drivetrain two mondays from now then I'm done.

My car is sittin back at the dorms... Ice parking lot FTL. Plus we are getting a few inches of snow tonight... Big brake kit doesnt allow smaller than 17" rims... and for $180 a winter tire for 17s... I can let the car sit a few days in the winter...

I've talked to people who have gone to UTI and they basically said they learn the same easy stuff that they learned in Vo-Tech in highschool. Wyotech teaches you in depth about things and has a more of a proffesionalism to it. I've never really heard from people that have gone to lincon tech. If you can't stand being at school for 9 hours a day then wyotech isn't for you.

I don't know why, but everyone sleeps in class when they are tired and always get caught. I've been in the front when the teachers are lecturing sitting up and "looking down" like I'm reading my book without proping my head. Works like a charm. Been here since July and have never gotten caught. Hahaha

Yea, I brought it up this week, because Im going home right after school on Friday because we are gettting out early around 10-10:30 after finals...

It will be back next week also. I am skipping school on Friday to prep the car for show. I am going to leave Thursday night after school, maby at the last 20min break... so I get home earlier and can get some sleep. I have to take my trunklid into the shop that Friday to get it resprayed black because I had wrapped it in carbon fiber and it bubbled up in 2 areas :cry: . So now there is some resin and 2 little chunks of carbon fiber stuck to my trunklid, and it looks like crap, and I am registered for the show at Tunerwars at the Harrisburg Farm Show Complex... Going to the show w/o a trunklid is probably going to be noisy... I might throw my spare crap one on just to get to the show. Saturday we are allowed in 2 hours early to clean the cars 1 last time before the start of the show so I am going to throw the freshly painted trunklid on then.

That must have been Wednesday. I rarely go out that way. I usually go out the back way to beat traffic. It's really a science to try to get out of there. Yea. I think I totaled my other ZX2 October 7th or 9th.

Bad thing is, I brought it up b/c I hated getting rides all the time and wanted to drive some. I wasnt driving like a retard either.

1st time having it up in 3 weeks. Before that, it was like 4 weeks, and before that, it was about 2 months, and thats not long after I bought it.


Big brake kit + some salt on road from night before + kid slowing down to a crawl infront of truck = accident
I can never win.


The adjuster is comming out tomorrow to look and give an estimate. Hopefully they will give my parents a check for the damages and I can use it to buy the parts b/c I have 2 good sources with ZX2 parts.

Well if you don't launch it like a bat out of hell all the time you should be fine. If it breaks you can swap an sti 6 speed in. I know someone who parts out subaru's. Sti trans basically equals bulletproof.

Wrx....you can drive it year round with out any traction problems unless you really want to break traction. But I do like the lightning, just I'm not a truck person. Plus with summer tires on a wrx it handles like it's on rails.

I use to attend NTI which is ran by UTI in NC, UTI sucks, I'm attending ATC in exton,PA and there is a lot of UTI student's there that agree with me. Trust me UTI is not where you want to head, I prefer ATC it's a great school with more lab time then UTI; small classes, plus the cost of the school is a lot lower then UTI. ATC is also a family ran business it isn't a huge corporation that is after your money, ATC is more into the students that attend. I can keep going on... sorry.

I go to atc in warminster now im in my third 8 week block or whatever you call it. I think the biggest thing that atc offers is their teachers. They respect you for what you know and for what your willing to admit you dont know.
As in any votech school, there are a lot of young guys fresh outta high school who make things a lil rough. (Flooding bathrooms, making messes with drinks in the bathrooms, burnouts, ripping outta the parking lot... you get the idea.)

ATC offers a machine shop class and a high performance class mainly directed towards diagnosis and optimum performance. It looks like wyo tech may be my next stop in edumacation, i like that they have welding classes.

That's cool I don't start until june 25th :( i'm excited but nervouse, I know what you are saying though because the man who signed me up or whatever told me the same thing about the teacher's, I ran into some kid's at the school who said the same thing. At UTI it wasn't like that at all the teacher's were ignorant and stuck up; if you drove a certain vehicle like domestic and muscle they paid more attention to you. I'm so glad i am out of there now, I hated that school so much.

sorry to bring from dead but right now im looking to go to one of this schools. UTI an ATC are on my list to check out.
i seen there is core couse at UTI and toyota/bmw and something else manufacturer specific training after which is kinda nice, too bad no honda specific training but i guess i can do it after. any recomendation? i see UTI all over TV

rad last 2 pages from rallygal and looks like ppl like ATC better then UTI. that deff changes my mind. now need to wisit both schools before i make my decision
