well it happened the other night on the way to the meet, it just could not handle one more launch. i launched the car and it just did not want to move, finally about 2 seconds later it took off.

what are you guys running out there clutch wise on your evos. just curious, i think we have our minds made up but i want to know.

Check out South Bend Clutch! Many times down the track on two different cars. One being 6 puck and the other being a high pressure plate and street disc. Still looked brand new after many passes down the track. Great product! Awesome price!

New user name Ray?

I had an ACT 2600# in my EVO. Held up OK, but I could smoke it if I was driving angry, so maybe not the best for max performance.

Exedy Stage 2, incredible clutch so far.

friend of mine is doing the hyper single, which exedy has stopped making.

what are your goals for the car?

i think i still have a spec sheet for the exedy clutches if you want it.

Alot of my friends run act 2600's with street discs. I mean they hold up strong, depending on mods and driving style.

If you want the best go for a tilton..If you are daily driving it, I'd go with the stocker.. ACT have been known to cause high RPM lockout on the EVO applications, although an exedy twin is always a good choice.. Depends on what you are doing with the car..Works has also released a clutch identical to the stocker with higher clamp load..Price/torque/driving style are your main concerns, give or take in every aspect..

cheapest i could find it was 530 something for the whole kit shipped www.prostreetonline.com, the clutch will grab alot harder if you eliminate the restrictor pill out of the clutch line, be careful when launching and shifting hard, the rear will bang like a mother****er, can cause a blown ring and pinnion and then if you want that for a good price takes for ever to get

i know what you are talking about, she was making the rear of the evo bang when she would shift into 2nd on the stock clutch. so i cant imagine it with this one

I dont know about evos but I had a twin disc in my dsm which was horrible for street driving and even at the track you cant slip it. I now have a 2900 and street disc and have never been happier.

Yeah you got to be easy on the clutch ad break it in for like 500 miles not 200 like me and then go racing some 500hp hondas

Oh if you need any help installing it let me know make sure to disconnect the throw out bearing first

what ever just saying i dunno who he is or what he does, just some helpful advice from one evo driver to another, but you would know nothing about it since the biggest install you did yourself was hanging a nice air freshner in the car

act's are known for locking you out of putting it in gear... it's all over the place and if you talk to ACT they admit to it...

thats only if the cluthc is not adjusted properly

peteyturbo
09-11-2006, 05:08 PM
Not from what I have read.. Also 9 times out of 10 you end up pre-loading the clutch in order to compensate for this problem which ends up toasting the friction material faster anyway..Needless to say I think I have bought 4 ACT2600's in my day for the galants..I think I am replacing with stock clutch until I hit a point that the stocker won't hold, but so far it is holding up well..thats only if the cluthc is not adjusted properly

Good luck..If I'm in town I'll help you out or something (drink your beer) so I can have a better idea of how to do it on my own EVO when the time comes..You're lucky you don't have ACD at this point..yay, doing the clutch this friday.

nah the acd is very easy to bleed after you take the screw out, basically you bleed it by almost starting the car which turns on the acd pump and unscrewing the bleeder valve. theres a write up on evom

make sure it's not pre-loaded.. i thought of that also, i can also for some odd reason when launching even with the clutch pedal in all the way the car wants to creep. which i think its causing it to burn

I had the same exact problem with my GVR4..You need to adjust it perfectly, I am almost positive you clutch is not fully disengaging..Is getting into 1st and reverse alittle more difficult, and slightly more notchiness??i thought of that also, i can also for some odd reason when launching even with the clutch pedal in all the way the car wants to creep. which i think its causing it to burn
