I was the one that posted about finding the 86 IROC-Z Camaro http://www.tristatetuners.com/viewtopic.php?t=1945 and today about 5 minutes from my house I found an 88 Ford Mustang GT. The car is owned by an older man and holy heck the car is in amazing shape. It also drives like a beast. Anyway below is the list of things the car has.
Motor - Ford 306
Elderbrock Stage 2 Alum. Heads
Elderbrock Upper and Lower Intake
Hooker Super Comp Headers
Ford Motor Sport B Cam Shaft
65 MM Throttle Body
EGR Plate
Moroso Cold Air Kit
Underdrive Pulleys
MSD Coil
Tremac Transmission
Hurst Shifter - top and bottom
Off Road H-Pipe
Flowmasters Dual Exhaust
8.8 Rear with 410 Gear
17x8 Cobra R Wheels with brand new tires
Cobra R Hood
White Racing Gauges
The car was painted a Custom candy green and the inside is gray which is in perfect shape. The motor has about 20K on it and the body has 85k. Because the tranmission is after-market would guess it has 20K as well. He planned to sell it to someone else but they never showed up to look at the car so he is selling it for $5,500. Do you guys think it is worth it? About how much HP do you think that car is putting out? The only problems I see on the car is, the passenger side door doesn't open from the outside, and because of the 4.10 rear axle, the speedometer is way off. Thats about it. Now I have to deside if i want to spend the extra money to buy this car, or start with the IROC-Z that is stock and needs some work. However I have always been a GM person, and I rather have the camaro.. but this Fox body is just great. The pictures for the car are below

if the camaro was newer i would say go with that, but you're starting off with a better car in the mustang...
definitely worth the 4000 more - if you like the green over bondo blue

I used to bleed Chevy Orange, but the Fox chassis owns the F-body.
If you can afford it, get the Stang. Less you have to dump into it too.

Yeah the Mustang is VERY nice. Its a hot looking car. The guy said if I don't choose to buy it, he will just put a for sale signs on the car, and park it out on the main street. He said he will get $8,000 for the car and for once I kind actually believe a seller for that. For the low miles on both the body and a newer motor/transmission, and hot look, $8,000 is possible I would say.
So now I have to deside is, pay the extra $$ for the Ford Mustang, Or go with another GM and get the Camaro and start off with a project car? I would say yes to the Camaro if it was the TPI motor instead of the TBI. I really don't care for that TBI motor to much, and for the time being would drive it stock as it is untill fall. Man that Ford Mustang would be a hot cruser for the summer. The guy started taking out the stuff like the head unit and ricy steering wheel. I really don't care about the steering wheel, however because the orignal owner who put the head unit in, cut the factory wiring harness out, the orignal head unit thats in there doesn't work right now. I want he head unit so i have a working radio lol. The guy also for an extra $1,000 has a full set of parts for the Mustang. He has like a full GT body kit, head lights tail lights, center console, door locks, handles, emblems, etc. I really don't have the extra room to store all that away and don't feel like spending an extra 1,000 for the parts. If anyone needs any parts for a GT Mustang just tell me and I will ask him.

I would pick the mustang myself. But ask him how many times he was at the drag strip with that thing....most people just dont build 306's w/ worked trannys for daily drivers....catch my drift?
Also look for leaks

I do know that he used to drag cars, however he told me he has only had this car for a short time. The way he was driving the Mustang just doesn't seem like he used it for draging. I think he just has the motor and transmission connections and wanted to drop in something nice to sell the car better. It looked to be in amazing shape, and i looked over the motor and when he drove it, it felt like everything was there. I didn't smell or hear anything that looked bad. I didn't see any leaks from under the car once he pulled it out of the garage. The one thing i wanted too look for was when he started the car if it smoked any, however there was nothing there. It just had an inspection and emissions completed so I am happy to see that everything passed.

Well guys I think I am going to pass on this Mustang. Even if its well worth it, I just can't see myself buying a Mustang. My family has always been Gm and i am sticking with it. I rather get the beater Camaro over the Mustang. I may not just get that Camaro, if I find something nicer I think I will just go with that. Is there anyone else interested in the Mustang? If so just contact me and I will give you his phone number. I have to get in contact with the seller first before I just go ahead and give out his number. Also today's mothers day, so i really don't want him receiving a bunch of phone calls today... lol.

Yeah most likey he is going to advertise the car for more.. but I guess if you talk with him can get the price back down again. I bet because of that Custom Candy Green, that car will sell to any of the kids around here with parents that give them 50K a day, or to an older person looking for a sweet low miles ride.

Completely backwards thinking.
But, it is your decision. If you get the Camaro, you should do an LS1 swap. :wiggle:

Well its not just because my family has always been GM (not everyone in my family drives GM) however I have always liked Chevy Camaro's more then Ford Mustangs all my life. Even if the mustang would destroy the Camaro I am getting, I still be happy enough crusing down I-95 with the t-tops off and shifting gears. It has been my dream car for as long as I can remember. Everytime I get behind the wheel of a 3rd gen Camaro (IROC-Z's) Its a great feeling. THe car does have the weakest motor (LG4 305 V8) which is TBI and only puts out an amazing 165hp and 250 Torque. Owell nothing too special but its good enough untill I do my swap.
