This is going to be a light tackle footbal game. Girls are more than welcome to play. We are responsible and all know better to tackle a girl. Last years game was awesome. You have more than one month to request off from work, and or other non important stuff like family events, funerals, and weddings.

Yeah, it's an advantage to not break your ankle by slipping on a grass field trying to stop or turn. I think you should reconsider that...

Last time was a lot of fun. For the guys asknig, the tackling didn't gt out of control, and the bigger guys, at least most of them, took the game lightly and made sure they didn't go overboard.

Although I did knock the female down once by accident.

cleats should def be discussed. people have a whole month to borrow or go buy a cheap pair. i for one wont be playing without them. to many injuries can occur from unsure footing. honestly you can pick up a pair of cleats for like 20bucks. also i think i have a few extra pairs that ill bring, hopefully i didnt chuck them out.

It's a different world, for sure - in perspective, my hometown where I graduated had 3,335 people, but our school was a consolidated school that included 2 other small towns. We had about 1,500 students in the high school.

Our stadium rivaled most college stadiums in other places and seated 15,000 people. Every Friday night, it was packed, whether the home team was 12-0 or 1-11. That's just what people do back home on Friday nights, whether they have kids in school or not.

Put me on the list, and if cleats are really an issue, I think it needs to be settled before the game - several people intend to wear them, and a ruling needs to be made.

I don't have cleats, but I have some astroturf Reeboks with a rough sole.

Def needs to be settled. Granite were playing a physical game and we can get hurt at anytime, but I'd like to bring the percentage down a bit. Ankle and knee injuries can occur very easily. I for one vote yay for cleats. I have a job and bills...lol

If its a light tackle game then how is someone gonna get kicked in the face?? I used to play almost every night with my friends up at school and we would tackle hard, and never once did anyone get kicked in the face, nor did we have any injuries from people wearing cleats. Im sorry im not trying to be an asshole, but why is it just your decision, it seems like more people want them then not. Not too fair that you have the only say in it.

Go ahead and wear your soccer or baseball cleats. Doesn't matter to me.

did you guys wear cleats in highschool for gym class too? i dont know why you really need them. like you said its a "light tackle" football game. do you really need to wear cleats for that? if its absoultely muddy out then i dont have a prob with it. but if its dry or just moist then its no. and like 4 people wore them last year. everyone wants to wear them cause someone had to say something about it.

Actually even if someone didnt say something I was gonna wear them cause i didnt know it was such a problem. Its football, its a normal thing to wear them. And if i coulda worn cleats in gym class i woulda just because i like to have traction/protection

I didn't wear cleats in high school gym class because I had to wear sneakers on the gym floor for the same reason.

You're right though, if it's perfect weather and the field is in perfect condition, you might be able to get away with it. The people who are complaining are people who have played sports on grass or dirt and know that you can get hurt just by stepping the wrong way. I know I'd never play baseball on a field without cleats no matter what kind of game it was.

Just say that people can do whatever they want, but if someone gets hurt or steps on someone else, they're banned.

Ok well then after i break my ankle again cause i couldnt wear them ill kick you in the nuts haha. But seriously thats the second person who said something about purposely doing something. Can't hurt my nuts, I've had a vasectomy. Also, I'm not some little bitch boy people can assume that they'll beat on...(haha)...

I'd never hurt anyone intentionally, but on this cleat issue, I have to say that you're MUCH more prone to an injury WITH cleats than without - if your foot sticks to the ground because you dug in well, and your body keeps moving, something has to give. I've had more sports injuries than I can count, and have seen more than an ESPN analyst, and crosstrainers or light turf shoes will do far less damage.

If it's a performance thing you're looking for, bear in mind, I highly doubt there'll be any recruiting scouts there, and 95% of the people playing are just there to have fun.

I equate the guys who demand to wear cleats in a game like this to the guy in the Air Force with me who would show up to the gym to play basketball with his Jordans in a stainless case, and he'd relace them every time he wore them, like some big production. Lighten up, it's a pickup football game for fun,
and prima donna-type players only get people hurt, piss people off, and cause hard feelings.

It'll still hurt im sure haha. Trust me, ive had just as many if not more sports injuries than you. Ive played just about every sport there is to play. And im not gonna wear softground cleats obviously, unless its really muddy. But trust me, i know my own body, and I am better off wearing cleats. I know its for fun, but even when having fun id like to at least be able to run well enough. If its a really dry day then yea ill probably just end up wearing some CT's but otherwise i would feel more comfortable in my cleats. In no way did i insinuate that you were some little bitch boy. But if you wanna try and cover me then be my guest haha. Anyways, if you think im a prima donna you'll be in for a rude awakening when we get out there haha

I don't cover, because I don't try to run after some guy I outweigh by 100 lbs...don't need to - my house is 3 yards to either side of the line of scrimmage, and 5 yards left and right of the quarterback...be careful when trespassing. Most receivers never go into that area, for good reason, but every once in a while a running back thinks they can run through.

Also I stick with my team even when they aren't doing great. But they will this season with everyone healthy and the new pick ups

Ronin Tactical
09-06-2006, 09:37 PM
Oh, no....the original Eagles, before the NFL was created, won a "championship" over 16 other teams in 1961, not a Superbowl, which didn't start until the AFL and NFL merged in 1966. That was 45 years ago, playing against some teams that don't even exist anymore.

By the way, I'm from Texas...I feel sorry for youse guys....Eagles fans are too dang hateful, mean and just wrong to deserve a Superbowl....beating people up, overturning and setting fire to vehicles....it's a football game, that's all, and as long as guys keep acting like hooligans here in Philly, God will keep watching his Cowboys play - that's why there's a hole in the roof at Texas Stadium, you know....

I've been here for 6 years...I've also dealt with much worse than a bunch of puffed out chest trash talkers....I've run into lots of guys who talk major smack until you call them on it...then they have to go 8 guys to help them or call their moms or something...sheesh, no fun at all.

T.O. is an idiot, and an A$$hole....I won't buy his jersey since I know he probably gets a dollar from each one. I wouldn't walk across the street to piss on him if he was on fire. That said, I hope he does well, because the team would profit from it, but I know he can't keep his illiterate mouth shut and something will happen, and when it does, old Bill will hit him with fine after fine until he says something wrong, then he's gone.....and he'll be playing third string in Kansas City for $300,000 a year...

Hates it? Philly doesn hate the Cowboys ANYTHING like most of Texas hated the Cowboys in the late 80s...the seasons were 1-15, 2-14, and 3-13...yuck. Football is a religion in TX, like I said, starting in elementary school (yes, they have 4th grade JV and 5th grade varsity teams)...when you own everything that is the Cowboys, from your shirts, hats, bumper stickers, even car paint jobs...and they have 5 losing seasons, with only winning 3 games in 2 years....man, it was ugly there.

There were some ugly practical jokes that happened from 1987-1990...

My friend Mike played tight end for Penn State. If I were coming, I'd bring him with me...he's a little guy at 6'5" 265lbs.

Although I'm not going to be there, I think cleats not being worn would cause more injuries than cleats being worn. The little guys can run and cut without them, but the big guys can start blowing knees and such if they don't wear them.

last year we just showed up and played. then some of us did doughnuts. if it goes south i have a few other fields close by as back up, which i will post up a few days before the game.

Sounds like a plan to me

are us fatties invited?

6'3 320lbs here, i'll see you suckers there :D

this will be my first TST thing, I just registered today after following a link from the tiburon forums. I was looking through the thread a little, is the BBQ thing just an idea or for sure? First thing that popped in my head was I would bring a cooler or two with some brew, but then again it's a highschool so that's probably a ****ty idea.

Maybe ya should put up a list of things needed and then once someone says they can bring it put their name next to it. Just so everyone knows what is needed.

Less then a week away, cant wait!

If the BBQ thing is a go, I think a list should be made and people sign up??

(i.e plates, cups, utensils, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, cheese, hot dogs, hamburgers, fixings stuff, a grill, drinks, ice?, etc)
