Im looking for a place that would do a WRX swap into an RS. Ive checked Rs25.com searched and all that fun **** but all im finding is RalliSpec. I was quoted $6500 for everything but i was wondering anyone know other places that might do the swap and are up for 20hrs worth of wiring?
Thanks
Chris

Did you finally get a Suby?
+1 for Precision, since RalliSpec is shying away from doing swaps and their wait is until like October.

Use the STI Type RA gears with a R180 rear, stronger gears and a 4.44 ratio instead of 4.11.

you can run rs tranny for a bit of time but it will be torn up quick and gearing is different
AZP in kenilworth is another good place to get work done
precision
rallispec
those are the main places id go to get it done
since you have no pieces of the puzzle id be like 5-6 grand to get it all done and working

Rally specs quote is 6500 hopefully the others might be a little cheaper

You should talk to Bob who goes to red robin. He has a 2.5 with a WRX swap. I am not sure who did it but there are some custom things that need to be done like custom rad supports.
I don't think Bob is on here so look for him at the Red Robin meets.
Bob got his done at rallispec

pricing is basically all the same. around 6-6500. you can do it cheaper by buying the parts and doing the install yourself. Then goin to rallispec or AZP to have them wire it for about 1k.

Bob(beobe99 on here) got his done at RalliSpec. From what I hear though they are not doing work anymore, or are really backed up!!

Id need an EJ20 (of course) and a Crossmember and then just bolt up? Or do i need other junk besides the wiring junk that where i took it would have to do. then theres getting there....might as well dish the 6-6.5k for the swap all done there. Think i could sell Ej25 w/ 87k miles for anything?

Hell yeah, lot's of L guys use them as a first step, then do a WRX swap.

yeah someone on rs25 will snatch up that engine. Youll need a crossmember and the engine. From what im told thats it.

i'm tackling a wrx swap into a MY98 2.5rs - should be done by the end of summer...
here's some useful info:
- you can use wrx crossmember OR legacy turbo crossmember (which is usually cheaper)
- sourcing parts yourself will allow the process to move smoothly and avoid delays
- you might want to consider doing the mechanical part yourself since the wiring is the most time consuming and a shop would be more willing to convert just the harness rather than the entire car.
- i'm only a PM away if you have any questions

Yea i still dont know. I thinkin pricing what an engine rebuild would be and going the NA route. Yea i might not be as happy but i dont know what will bring when i hit college.

honestly coming from owning an rs
best bet is a swap, rs motor is just unreliable really, many people do rebuilds and turbo kits and they run for some time but then it will eventually die pretty quick
so if you want to do more than the average bolt on, id recommend a swap
also id be a good learning experience, gettin the motor and other parts, installin em yourself..then tow it somewhere to get wired all up and have a nice toy to play with!

why wouldn't you just go for a EJ257 - it'll cost the same and you won't have to rebuild it...
i'm swapping in a EJ205 and then adding spec-c heads/EJ257 built bottom end... easiest/cheapest way to the most power

ej22 is uber cheap. i can get a running one for 400 bucks. throw RS heads on there with cobb's turbo cams and call it a day.

swaps are no fun you have to turbo the stocker and live life on the edge... will it blow up today or will I make it all the way to work. :supz:

hydra is a little on the expensive side, but the support and tuning potential is top notch. I would stay away from anything thats not a full stand-alone since you are dealing with a complex hybrid (turbo bottomend/non-turbo heads). I hate to say it, but going this route, it could cost more money when it comes to engine management solutions.
doing a swap that includes a factory turbo engine's ecu will net great results and also the benefit of being able to reflash it with ECUTEK.
I've been researching this for close to 2 years now since I'm opening a conversion shop in the near future. Let me know if you want to discuss this even further - I can save you a lot of money in the long run.
