so i was working today, and lifted up a garage door, and **** fell down on my face. I had safety "glasses" on, not the goggles. So there was room for **** to get in.

Well at first i thought, meh, its just a peice of dirt. All day i go rubbing it, washing it with water, trying to get it out. SO eventually the pain stops and i "thought" it was all out. So then 5pm rolls around and it comes back and starts KILLING ME!!! The pain was unbearable. I had tears running like the nile down my face, they would not stop. The pain was freakin INSANE! So my boss sends me to Nova Care in Oxford Valley. I get their, and the lady was a ****y son of a beotch. So she tells me to go over to the ER. Well if i go there, im not covered under my works insurance. So i cant go there, she said wait until tomarrow morning. I said w/e, i dont want a $200,000 hospital bill.

So 7:30pm rolls around, and i decided to go to the ER. The pain was starting to get outa control. I get there, and its not until about 9:30 that they start to look at me, they run some test's and put orange dye in my eye and drops to numb it. They take a peice pf plastic, some kind of scrapping device and try to get it out. Well they failed. So then he trys a q-tip. Nothing. At this point im about to scream in pain. So they give me some perks. . So the doc leaves, talks to my mom for awhile, then comes back and says he called a specialist and he will be here in a hour or so.

So 2 hours later two guys show up. And they proceed to pick at my eye with a needle. Mind you im terrified of needles. Yet they are picking at my eye with one for about 20-30 minutes, holding my eye open, its burning like crazy, the numb drops wore off , and the lights were killing my eyes that they were shining in.

So after 20-30 minutes of picking and picking at it, they get 80% of it out. Now, they cant do anything else, they write me a presc. for perks, and some cream for my eye. They made a appointment for me to see some other local specialist, to have him drill out the rest...... yes DRILL out the rest of the metal out of my eye... WTF...i thought a needle was bad now a drill.... wish me luck guys, looks like im out of work for awhile with this one. But they gotta pay me, i got hurt on the job!

Wise A$$

Metal in the eye sucks!. I'm constantly getting rust and stuff in mine when I work on the Jeep. In the future, remember this...Get it out ASAP! Just find me, I'm a pro at eye-$h!t removal.

It could be worse, we had a guy here working on a sliding table saw and the blade chipped and went clean thru his eye. The eye doctor said that if he had been wearing safety glasses, it would've just slowed the blade down and it'd probably still be stuck in his eye...probably with plastic from the glasses too. I'd much rather something fall in than go blazing thru my eye. His eye, believe it or not, has fully healed and he has just about 100% of his vision. Must not've hit anything major.

I'm not sure what's worse...a drill or table saw. LOL.

ya, i have a black spot in my vision now :(, not toooo big, but its very noticable to me. And i went to another specialist today, and depending on what happens over the weekend, next monday they may have to take a drill and burr it out, which he informed me is a high risk of visual damage with that operation.

If you do get metal in your eye, depending on how long its in there for it creates a rust ring around it. Thats when they take the micro looking dremel tool and grind that **** out. talk about not fun. I've had it done 3 times

exactly what happened.it left a scar/cut that has messed up my vision. Possibly because it was on my cornia in the lower right side of it.

i had an issue with my eye and had to get steroids in it becasue the oral steroid wore off. They actually put a opening device on my eyes to keep them open then stuck a needle in each corner of my eye with a green steroid solution about a quarter of an inch deep. My eyes bleed green for like 20 mins but felt alottttt better!

why didn't you just wash it out with water in the first place, instead of rubbing it like a retarded 7 year-old? lol :screwy:

Happened to me before, they stabbed my eye with a needle to get it out, than I had to go back like 3 days later so they could scrap the rust out of my eye. it sucked, I got cool glasses to wear though :)

i jus experienced some of the worst pain ever..all of the sudden it felt like someone was pushing a needle through the back of my eye towards the front. so i figure its an eyelash and go to get it out/wash it out. nothin there, jus keeps freaking hurting. what a PITA. hope things go well with the rest of your surgeries.

Mmmmmm opthamologists.

Try a magnet? I've seen that work on steel shavings in the ER before.

Sorry to hear that you rubbed your eyes instead of flushing them ASAP.

Did they put the drops of orange dye in your eye and use a black light to see the shaving? Thats my favorite part, watching the patients eyes turn orange.
