saw a 2007 ford mustang GT500 last night at cecil county. if anybody knows him, tell him to learn to drive, running high 13's low 14's on street tires, then running a 13.5 on drag radials, ****in people. and to make this better, he only had like 30 miles on the car. who the **** beats the **** out of their car with only 30 miles on it???? if anyone knows this guy, tell him I want to run him at the track

That's the only real way to break them in :finga: The cars that run the best times are usually the ones that are driven the hardest at the beginning.
As to driving, if it really was a true GT500, than yes, he needs to learn how to drive. He should be running mid 12's (12.40's-12.70's) at 115+. It's his first time out though, so give him some slack.

What did you run the first time out in the srt-4???
First time at the track in the cobra I ran a 13.5, than my times went down the next trip to a 12.7.
30 miles and you expect him to be an expert already???
I'll give another quick example...my friend has an 02 Z06. The first 50 trips he was running high 12's with under 1000 miles. After a bunch of trips, he continued to et better, and finally, he ended up being one of the fastest bone stock (meaning stock tires and filter, everything) Z06's out there, at 11.98@117.
And yet one more example...my brother started out running mid 13's in his WS6, and ended up being one of the faster stock LS1's, and fastest vert's at 12.87@111.
30 miles on the car isn't quite the time to nail him to the cross!

Let's hear both. I'm hoping your first time was 12.2@121.
As you see, it's all in the 60'.

NEVERMIND!!!!
LMFAO!!! You actually think you cut a real 1.3 60'!?!?!?!?!?!?!
So what were your other times?
It is really not important, I was just making the point that a car with 30 miles, the driver isn't anywhere close to adjusted to the car. A 14 second 1/4 is terrible no matter what though.
Lastly, why would you call a car out that you know is obviously a second slower than you?? It just doesn't make sense.

i see exactly what your saying, but I was expecting so much more out of a 500WHP car, I mean at least a 12.999 on drags, but my first time on my big turbo was a 12.8 at 118, and I remember that time slip, I threw it out because after thinking and looking at it the 60' is way off

500 is rated at the crank, they dyno 400-450 bonestock (yes, large range) and the car is 4,000#'s. It's not a potato chip tiny pocket car like the neon (and that's not meant to be an insult, just stating that the new mustangs are PIGS, even my cobra is, and cobra's weigh even more than GT's).

Thats what suprised me with the new gt500's. The power is there but there so heavy, it defeats the purpose. I still think they look great, i cant wait to check one out in person.

You think they look good? I don't know, I'm still undecided, leaning towards ugly though.

I seen a few shots and think there alright, i like them but they do need few changes. I still think best looking mustang is 03-04 cobras.
Maybe when i see a new one in person i will change my mind, but from few shots i seen i thought it looked good.

the GT500 looks like the other mustangs, except with the stripes going down the middle and different rims, that's really the only visual difference
when the auto makers advertise 500hp, some old guy with money walks up and says "HOLY $HIT" and buys it. thats how they sell cars. nobody's gonna build a 10sec car and go sell it. it wouldnt go over well. chevy's pushing it with the new ZO6

It has a few other minor things im pretty sure, the grill and wing off hand. I havent looked at it real hard but from what i saw i liked but could pic out a handful of things that needed lil change.
