so i am going to look at this Mustang GT i talked about in my other thread..im either going tuesday or wednesday..well the for sale ad of the car says 79k miles on it and its selling for $7000..so i run a carfax on it..it was registered to the guy who is selling it back in june of last year with 73000 miles on it..but yet the guy tells me its his daily driver...6000 miles in a year? seems a little weird...so i look past that and ask him how long he has had the car...he said i guess maybe like 2 years (caught in a lie it wasnt even in NJ 18 months ago) then i asked him how many miles there were on it when he got it...he said around 67000..which is 6000 miles off..he did change the gauges to white face ones...think he could have rolled back the odom a few thousand?

I was ready to jump all over this car cause its exactly what i have been looking for...Near stock Mustang GT failrly low miles...pristine condition inside and out...they dont come around very often like this..its even all black which is what color i want.. so i guess i want opinions now...should i still go look at it and drive it to see how it runs? should i bring the carfax report and call him out on the stuff he lied to me about? sorry for the long post just looking for some input...thanks alot!

i say go drive it see how well it drives listen for weried nosies, ask him wen was the last oil change then smell the oil out..(yea sounds weried but u can learn alot about a car by smelling its oil) if u feel good about buying then call him out on the lies see what he says...mybe it belonged to his dad or something like that then he sold it to him u never know

I am curious to what you mean by weried? Actually what is that word?

<---Not being a dick, just curious on what your saying since your response seemed quite logical.

The real question is though, if he's lied, or fudged, the info he's given to you about the car already what's to say there isnt other issues with the car that he won't admit to or bring up. Just make sure you go over the care thoroughly, since it already seems a little off. Just my .02 cents.

Maybe he lived somewhere else and then moved to NJ and transferred the title over as well. I bought my 2002 M3 in late 2003 with 25,000 miles and I consider it may daily driver. It's got 40,000 miles on it right now so I geuss it would depend where you go.

If you have to question any "large" purchase, MOVE ON. There are PLENTY of mustangs for sale out there. If he lies about something simple and meaningless, he's most likely lying about much more. He's confused and not trustworthy.

What year is it that you are looking for, and what's your price range? Color? etc.

yea im gonna take everyones advice and pass on this one i think...

im looking for a 90-98 (for insurance purposes) but also cause i like those 2 different body styles...my price range is 10k or less and it CANT have a tan interior...exterior really doesnt matter..as long as its in good condition..it also has to have under 80k miles...or around there...i would prefer a 5.0 cause they are gonna be easier to work on but since im so picky i will take what i can find. my friend just picked up a black all original 92 notchback with 40k original miles...the car is flawless...it was $12000..if i found something like that i could shell out the little bit extra..

I don't like that body style. I think its 94 they had the new body style.

That looks in great shape though!

this may sound real weird...but i would get like a 94-95 mustang. even though its the well...new-old bodystyle...it has the 5.0 which is a great "modder" motor...tons of aftermarket...and not that expensive either

the 2 links in the middle is the same kid who has the one i originally wanted...its got a rolled back odom...the blue one is nice but its a v6...im lookin for a GT..

SilverTurboRidin i agree with you on that...if i could find a 94-95 instead of a 96-98 i would definitely pick it up...its harder to find them with low miles and all stock in good condition tho cause people eat them up since its the last years of the 5.0
