SRS warning Light?

I got in my car yesterday and it turned on and everytime i start my car the warning sound goes on when i start driving.

what does this mean and why might it have gone off?

Also, is it safe to keep driving without checking what's wrong with it?

Does anyone know how to diagnose the reason and how to fix it?

I bet it's the clock spring that operates the airbag, apparently it's a common thing.
