i am doing my turbo upgrade T0304E, and also am installing 550cc injectors at the same time. When i do this am i gonna run into any driveablility issues as far as driving it every day until i get it tuned. I already pm'd Andy from Xotic to see what the waiting list looks like to fit me in. But i gotta know if my car will run ok w/ these upgrades till it gets tuned

Well it depends on how long u wait until get tuned. But if u keep the boost down and don't beat on it u should be fine for a couple weeks.

If you are putting in a 50 trim you might want to go with some slightly larger injectors. You should have a good idea though when you get it tuned though.

Your car should start right up though and be driveable. If you/or a friend has a logger you can get it tuned pretty good for street driving until you dyno it.

With 550cc you should be good depending on how much boost you going to run. If any thing your going to have to take fuel away. Since it looks like you have a worthless narrow band a/f gauge aka "The Light Show" you will need a logger to street tune it. If I were you I wouldn't go into boost at all untill it got tuned weather it a street tune or dyno tune to be safe or at lest some why to moniter what is going on.

i was planning on keeping the boost down anyways until the tune...just b/c this is uncharted territory for me being my first tuner car....i wonder what #'s it'll put out after tuning

i was only planning on running somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 to 18 psi even with the tune....i am not looking for rediculous power #'s, i just want my car to run really good, and have decent power, this is my DAILY DRIVER and it has to stay reliable...so i don't wanna push the limits of the internals

Data logger. I'm using a Palm&stien logger program. You'll be going off of the O2 voltage and timing, because No 2G logger can monitor knock. You can however see knock in the timming.

www.DSMloggers.com is I got mine pocket logger has one too along with many other companies. The main thing you need is the cable and then you can down load a free program.

do they pretty much just read your AF ratio in real time? How much do they cost? I know that they are a very good thing to have

i was just checking out dsmlink...its outta my price range for now...595 w/ the socketed ecu

I got mine for 220 w/a Palm IIIc. You need the cable and addapter to hook it to the OBDII port. Also for DSM link you will need a 95 Eprom ECU. Also the logger looks at the TPS, timming, air inlet temp, water temp, ext..

i clicked on the link that you gave me for dsmlogger.com, but i am just getting confused b/c their is about a million different loggers on there and i just don't know which one i should be looking for

you could get a chip for ya mods and that will only cost about a 100bucks. dsmchips.com. I would just be worried about running around with those injectors....i would install the turbo and dont boost and then install the injectors when you get a chance.

He would need to get a 95 eprom ecu first. They only go for around 300

Ooo yea. That makes it pointless. Just wait to install the injectors.

i knew about dsmchips before but i never looked into it. just like you ^ said it would make it pointless....if i install the turbo and just keep it at 15 psi which i am running now, will it be ok....will it be any faster? I think it'll be alright...and then just install the injectors like a day before i get it tuned

The only advatnage with the chip is that you don't mess with you timing as much as you would with just the SAFC or GM MAS trans. Since you only going with 550's it really wouldn't help to much unless you want to raise you rev limiter, have a 2 step, and use you boost gauge to monitor knock

He would need to get a 95 eprom ecu first. They only go for around 300Ummm no they don't. You can get a 95 EPROM for $200 now. There is an online store where you can get an EPROM ECU for $250 w/ a warranty. I bought DSMLink + EPROM ECU for $600 total off DSMTalk You also have to remember with 2g's he can't use a lot of the free software that 1g's can. Also, he will not be able to read knock on a logger either...

If you are on a 50-trim set up I would recommend DSMLink but if it's really out of your price range then hope and pray you get someone that knows what they are doing with a SAFC/Logger combo w/o a knock reading nor WB02 reading.

i had a 50 trim with a walbro 255hp and stock injectors and no tune and it ran fine, u just cant boost to the moon. i was gonna get 550s and an afc but i sold the car before i got the chance. it spools slow enough that you can drive it without worrying about boosting by accident and running super lean and having a problem.

I wouldnt. EVen though you are running the same PSI the larger turbo is going to flow more...

awdlaserbeam--well i know that it would flow more...i was just wondering if i the overall more flow would show me a signifigant enough increase in power that i would feel it...what do you mean "i wouldn't"?
sexydsm--my car will be going to xotic motorsports to be tuned my andy...he as a wdb02 at the shop so there will be no need for the gauge...i think enough people on this forum can vouch for him enough to be trusted with my car.

it wwill give you overall more air and show you a significant enough increase in leanness

just put the injectors in when you do the turbo and tune it later. you better off running rich than lean.

seeing that this turbo is a 50 trim and has a 39 mm internal wg...what do you think the lowest boost this turbo will run? for ex. my stock t25..if i turn my boost controller all the way down...it will still run like 10lbs of boost...just a stupid question

koho2731
08-02-2006, 02:34 AM
What is the spring pressure on the WG set at because that is the lowest boost you can run.
