Hope this is the right place to post this. Anyways, just recieved a Blitz muffler I purchased from a private party and the idiot did not package it in a box (just bubble wrap). UPS handled it rather rough and the tip is bent in three places. It was insured and they are going to pay for any repairs but I am having the hardest time finding any place that will repair it. Today I took it to Firestone, Midas, and Meineke and they all told me the same thing...the tip is too wide (the smallest expander is 3" and the Blitz is 4"). I called a few other places including some speed shops and hit a dead end.

Anyone been thru anything like this? Any suggestions on where or what kind of place would be able to handle this (any vendors here)? I could try and bend it myself but with UPS footin the bill, I might as well have it done professionally. Thanks.

will they replace it? if you tell them you've gone to multiple places without luck maybe you can convince them to replace it for you instead.

4 inches (yes it's a coffee can). I bought it used from a private seller so it's not exactly replaceable unless I can find one for the exact same price. This f-in sucks.

what was the insured value? what is the actual (new) replacement value? you should be able to get the lower of those two numbers from insurance.

Can I do this? The insured price of the exhaust was $200. I paid $35 more dollars for shipping but I'm not sure they will pay that.

if the exhaust was insured for $200, and you can prove that its replacement value is at least that much, they will give you $200 plus shipping costs back. it takes a while to process though.
contact the post office if you havent already and bring them a print out of the price of the exhaust with a photo if possible, or bring the original receipt which would be even better... the best you can prove the value of it.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.

When shipping an item, even if it is used, insure it for full retail value. This helps you in teh event that it is damaged. Also, as a habbit, I have started asking sellers to send me a picture of the piece packaged for shipping, and I will handle the shipping procedure via my DHL online account. This way, I know it was packed correctly, and in the event that DHL attempts to pick up and fails, I know that my part never really got shipped. Also, I have their true address.
