Looking to get an 02 LX 5-speed 62k miles seems nice but how are they reliability wise

my friend has one, alway messing with stuff on it and its been reliable for the most part. He has 2.5" custom cat back on it and hacked air box.
He did blow up his trans/clutch by being stupid but had it most of it covered under warrenty.
he dynoed 103/140 but supposedly the torque was high cause of a messed up signal, i dont know. if you have any questions ask me, i pretty much know that car in and out and am in it almost everyday.

How does it drive..how is the clutch and how did he blow the trany

get the mazdaspeed protege... very reliable car, sexy as hell, and a little power for when u need a little gitty up... look into it, its only a few thousands more, nothing big... less than 15k u can have one...
