Ive been searching for a new car and if i ever get rid of this truck i was thinking of looking at this 97 M3 that isnt far from my house. It has 47k-48k miles and the price is 13400. It has a carbon fiber hood and has a new waterpump, radiator and clutch. Any m3 gurus think its not worth it or somethings wrong. Thanks

i dont know whole lot about m3's.....except that they are pretty sick lol....13,900 doesnt sound like a bad price....i mean, i wish i knew about an m3 for under 15 g's when i bought my car for 18,000 lol.....how old is the person who has it ? its kind of weird how it needed a new clutch after only 45,000 miles.....probably has a lot of launches on it???? only thing bad about buying a car like that off of a private owner is that there is no warranty( im guessing its a private owner), and if things do go wrong with it its a hell of alot for parts......13,900 sounds ok tho..plus he doesnt have a lot of mods....u can do what you want to it.....sounds like a sweet deal to me.....plus im sure u could get the person to come down a little bit if you wanted ya know

thats a great price.....just check it out and use your judgement....obviously this guy is into tuning his car....so most likely he likes to push it hard also. Get a mechanic that you trust to take a look at it and give you the go ahead, if everything is in working order and you like the car, at that price, why not..

Take John's advice and get it checked out... Do you live near Frenchtown, NJ? (right across PA boarder) If so, give Vicari Motors a call (908)996-4161. I have been taking my BMW's there since '98... Steve will go over every inch of that car.

Used m3's can be iffy. While they aren't uber expensive to maintain, they are still $$, which means many of them have not been well-maintained. They take 7 quarts of synthetic, for ****'s sake. Price seems low to me... I'd be careful.

Word, I could have bought two of them at that price for what I paid for mine, and had $ to spare...

the price is realistic but E36 M3s are often abused and not taken care of properly. buyer beware.
that said, the M3 undergoes the same maintanance program that any E36 6 cylinder would follow. it should be as reliable as any 328...if treated right.
