This is copied from my posts on my350z.com forums...

So last night I went out to Englishtown Raceway in Englishtown, NJ with a friend. First time I ever took the Z to the track. My Z is a Track model, stock with wheels and tires (18x8.5F and 18x9.5R Rota P45s) and an upgraded clutch (got it when they did my tranny under warranty), no other mods of any type besides SIRIUS and a headunit. I did take out the spare and the jack and my sub, but thats all.
My 60ft was a 2.07. But over all I'm pretty happy with this as a stock run.
I backed up the first run (the 13.90@99.57) with a 13.91@99.41 and the 60ft was a little worse on the second run. So I think a 13.8 is possible, maybe more.

I'd like to get to a 13.8xx@100.xx before I add any mods or get DRs or Slicks. I think it'll be easily attainible. Anyways, I'm giddy. I was just hoping I'd hit a 13.999 or better last night

Here's the breakdown on the two runs from the slips. I have no scanner so you'll have to trust me ... I only got 2 runs because 2 people crashed and a FC RX7 puked itself all over the burnout box...

1st Run-

60ft - 2.078
330 - 5.818
1/8 - 8.943
MPH - 78.99
1000 - 11.632
1/4 - 13.906
MPH - 99.57

2nd Run-

60ft - 2.116
330 - 5.838
1/8 - 8.958
MPH - 79.08
1000 - 11.643
1/4 - 13.919
MPH - 99.41

So somehow I managed a tenth slower in the 60ft on the second run, but still only lost a hundredth and a tenth of a MPH in the final 1/4 mile. So that leads me to believe a 1.9x 60ft with the type of shifting I did in the 2nd run (which was a little harder) should yeild a 13.8x or maybe ... MAYBE even a 13.7x.
We'll see tho... Next track day is sunday.

Thats awesome for an 03. If you can pull that into the 1.9s than you will most def pull a better et. Im sure you know .1 on the bottom is .2 on the top!

I thought the z's were faster then 99-100mph.. The 13.9 is good for your MPH though, nice driving..

Honestly, a stock Z is a ET car not an MPH one. It's got short gearing, but not much top end. If I throw slicks and a 3.91 rear in it ... I'll likely have to get the rev-limiter moved back to 7400rpm to keep from having to shift into 5TH in the 1/4!

I was just using the trap speed to determine what kind of power it makes and how fast the car is, not really by how well it hooks up..
I'm having the same problem, I am crossing the traps at or very near the rev limit in 4th gear..I'm gonna need to bump up the limiter soon..Damn 6 speedsHonestly, a stock Z is a ET car not an MPH one. Yeah 6 speed FTL.
Also ... 1:1 5TH gear FTL.

Like everyone else with a 6 speed on the planet has a 1:1 4th... not Z owners :(

Good times man, but I think the Z has more top gear in third and fourth than most cars in the same class. Stock Z cars are dogs off the line. 13.9@101-stock. 5th gear in the 1/4 stock???

I wasn't saying I have to shift into 5th now. I was referring to getting a shorter rear (3.91 - stock is 3.53), then I'd need to remove/raise the rev limiter to avoid having to shift into 5th. 4th ends at like 104mph at 6800rpm or something stupid like that, if you change the rear out, it'll end at an even lower MPH. So therefore you'd wanna extend the revs so you can get more MPH out of a specific gear.

Thanks AJ. But I like to think that while I am better than a few of my friends... I'm not even "very good" yet. I got a lot to learn still.

Yeah if I recall the fastest stock 6 speed car on my350z.com did a 13.64 or something. To do a 13.6 on a AT car is kinda wild - factory freak motor or something... or maybe just awesome track prep.

It was both...Atco is a great track and his car is Most def a Factory Freak

if you ran that in the hotter weather just wait till fall. you'll pick up quite a bit when it is cooler out if you can still get traction. drag radials or get lucky and hook good in cooler/cold weather you can see your 13.6 easy, maybe 102 or so.

I dont think they make Adequete power to use DR's in Stock form...Try your luck with the Bridgestones that came on that badboy. If you can drive ti right you should squeeze a 1.9 and push it lower into the Mid 13's.

There are no more Bridgestones on it anymore ... T1Rs in the 295 series variety on the rear. I'll post the details in a few.

Great stock time, especially doing it in the heatwave we've had around here recently.

Now that I have more time...

The car has 18x8.5 front wheels with 265/35/18 Toyo T1-Rs and 18x9.5 rear wheels with 295/35/18 tires which are also T1-Rs.

oh and i think the toyo's had something to do with that time as well... toyo has much better rubber than orig bridgestones imo....

Well I thought the bridgestones were plenty grippy.... but the extra size likely helps ;)

i would think the bigger 18's would add a lot of weight and a lot less side wall to the tire, causing a little worse grip. guess the added width adds some grip to makeup for sidewall loss.......

Well the factory 18s are lightweight, but mine are 3lbs heavier in front and 3.5lbs heavier in rear (per wheel). The sidewall is actually a little bigger, mainly because its a 35 series tire, however I have a 295 series tire mounted on a 9.5in wide wheel on the car. So the tire being so wide, creates some extra sidewall for ya. :) Oh, and the Tires, are heavier too.

heavier rims + tires FTL. nice times!
