Mugen question for honda guys

Whats a new Mugen Twin loop muffler fresh off the boat from japan worth to you? A friend of mine is getting his in a couple of days and he was telling me he's planning to sell it. The importer said it has a street value of 2k or more, should we believe that?

There's no way anybody driving is going to pay 2,000$ for an axle back muffler. I don't car if it's made of gold. It's still not worth 2,000$

thats the only official mugen distributor for mugen.
and it says $780 for a new one.

I think he got it from inline 4 they're like king motor sport. They only got 2 in from japan he got 1. He's been waiting 8 months for it. They said they sold the second one for $3500. They also said those were the last made seeing as mugen has discontinued sales of it and other old school honda parts to work on newer honda's. I don't know if to believe them or take it with a gran of salt.

Its the axelback not the catback. He said if he can't sell it for a good price he'll put it on his car. I just don't want him to put it on his car seeing as his car is crap. Its a 97 civic 4 door lx with that crappy engine that has the throttle body that face's up.
