well I was on my way home from work this morning and I noticed a tapping noise. So after I got home I pulled the plugs and the upper timing belt cover. here is what I found http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v683/koho2731/timinggear.jpg So I guess the car is going to be down for a bit until I can get some cash to fix it

Did you check to see the tension in your belt or any investigation work to find out your belt slipped? It could be quite the headache to repair your head and then have it slip again.

What other pesky problems have kept the car down?
Also did you do a compression test to see what cylindars/valves were bad.

X2, before assuming that u have to put out money always investigate. It saved me alot of money with my dsm(DailyServiceMachine).

well I didn't do to much to ck out the compression becuse of the valve tapping, but the car was running with just a loss of low end power I don't know about the topend I haven't reved past 4500 since I heard the tapping. I know the tensioner is bad becuase the belt is doing the wave with the car running and gets wores as the car revs, but I'm going to replace all the pulleys, tensioner, and the water pump when I can get some cash together for parts and the tools. The car has been down for a blown turbo (T25), the clutch, and a lking side seal on the rear diff. I've had stalling problems in between shift too, but it's the hacked MAS.

i just did my timing belt, pulleys, water pump, and hydraulic tensioner a few months back.....this is a must at least every 60-70 thousand miles

Hmmm your dowel pins seems to match up by the pics you posted. Cant really tell unless you check in person. The redlines(that you have displayed) are on 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock on each cam gear. Line up the marks and check them to see what exactly is going on. Obviously check all the marks.

Yea the pic wasn't the best but I did rotate the timing marks around and the intake cams looks to be off by one tooth. Also while I was rotating the engine through by hand it was nice and smooth no binding at all so the valves should be good.
