I want to get the Omni on the raod, finally. I'm getting her registered today as a classic, easy enough. But it needs inspection.

The problem: smallish rust holes in the floor beneath the driver seat.

They aren't large, but I've been told the car will not pass inspection with any kind of hole forming. I was thinking of banging out the rust with a hammer, filling the hole with body filler and spraying the floor pan with some black body paint.

Think this is good enough to hide the rust/hole. I was planning on spraying as much of the underside as possible. If questioned I'd tell the mechanic that there was rust forming and that I sprayed it with rust protector then paint...good idea? bad idea?

Other than that it needs a new wheel cylinder, which I have.

why not just cut it out and weld in a plate, grind it flush on the top, and paint it. prolly take the same time, but the rust wont come back, at least not as fast.

I don't have the tools to cut and weld. And to have it done elsewhere would cost a few hundred bucks...

otherwise, I would. Anyone wanna offer their services pro-bono? I'll pay for the material.

just use a bondo hair mix....that will get it through inspection....at least it did with my 87 crx's frame and floorpans and the had holes about as wide as a softball in it....
