My buddy Tim and I did this whole project yesterday afternoon/night due to rain.
FMIC going on with no bumper

Only picture I have with stock bumper on

After we cut the bumper to open up the IC

I think it looks really good for cutting it ourselves in my driveway.

functional gets the thumbs up from this guy.
if you were going for looks you could find a way to black out the endtanks so it looks a bit more like the bumper is shaped for it, but whatever sinks your canoe.

Damn Intercooler looks good but dont paint it! if you do anything get it anodized. normal paint store heat from the engine basically causing your FMIC not to work as effecient as it should. its like putting a blanket arround your Fmic cause all it will do is keep it warm. IMO: You dont buy a huge intercooler and then waste it by spray painting it, do it the right way or dont do it at all.

dont they need to prep the surface of the intercooler by means of either sand/media blasting it? i know for powdercoating they dont recommend doing intercoolers since the media blasting will bend the fins on the intercooler

What you do is use a thermal emissive coating...lets it still act as a heat-exchanger

ugh....hey has anyone painted an intercooler and measured temps before and after. or are they talking out their ass?
On a FMIC'd wrx...(ill find the exact thread later)....an owner used BBQ paint to paint his FMIC...a light coating. Temps did not change at all. Just wanted to kill that internet urband legend

yeah from what i've read its recommended to use a light coat of radiator paint... that putting anything on the ic (or rad) at all will have an effect, but the effect is so small its not measurable, and therefore wont make a noticeable difference.

Look nice man. I had to do the same thing to mine Talon. There is no point to having a big intercooler and have it blocked by the bumper

I dont know how I feel about painting it, if someone with some PS skills could make a picture and post it or email it to me, I could get a better idea on what I wanna do with it.
